Divinity: Original Sin was a breakout title for Larian Studios, showing it had some truly great ideas and concepts for redefining the modern RPG. Divinity: Original Sin 2 improves upon every aspect of the original title and delivers a classic fantasy tale alongside unparalleled customization and impactful player choice. Divinity: Original Sin 2 is the true modern successor to the heralded Baldur’s Gate II.
Magic, somebody used to say, is a sword without a hilt: there's simply no safe way to use it. In the world of Divinity, Sourcerers, powerful individuals who can wield the Source to perform otherworldy feats, have been revered once, but following the death of the Divine Lucian, they are being hunted, as using the Source attracts the Voidwoken, hellish creatures that can bring about the end of the world. To prevent this from happening, Sourcerers are being tamed, stripped of their powers: one of these Sourcerers is the main character of Divinity: Original Sin 2. One of these Sourcerers is you.

Divinity: Original Sin is one of the most rewarding RPGs to come along in years. Its quests and combat compelled me to think hard about my actions and choices, which is more than I usually get to say about contemporary RPGs. Its depth, personality, and combat challenges easily allow it to hold its own against the likes of heavyweights like Dragon Age: Origins. These systems invite constant experimentation throughout dozens of memorable hours of combat and cheeky storytelling, and its rich modding toolkit provides the framework for enjoyable player-made adventure for years to come.

A game any true RPG fan should be impatient to play, as it is probably the truest RPG to have ever been produced, on any platform.
If there's ever been a time to throw out the words "Indie" or "Developed on a budget" then now is the time. As it proves that time, effort, fan feedback, and passion, are more important than high budgets, annual recycling, scripted Hollywood aesthetics, and glorified tech demos.
Divinity: Original Sin is a classic RPG from top to bottom. Unfortunately some of those older elements could have used some extra polish and improvement. However, for those looking to relive the glory days of PC RPG's this is the game for you.
Technical issues aside, this enhanced re-release of one of our favorite games of recent memory is worth a buy.
While in my opinion it has a few flaws that hold it back from true all-time-classic status Divinity: Original Sin is an excellent, beautifully designed and engaging RPG that absolutely never gets boring. The main story could be better told, companions could be more interesting (and just more), and while refreshingly free it could at least offer some better directions for important things or highlight crucial items. Nevertheless the inventive and always unique combat, the witty and humorous wr...
