Dungeon of the Endless Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Dungeon of the Endless combines the roguelite and tower defence genres in a way that makes it deeper than the sum of its parts. It's challenging, but rewarding, and if you're a fan of the roguelite genre, then this is one of the most interesting ones from the last few years.
This rogue-like will have you coming back for more! An excellent rogue-like game that has me wanting to play it more and more.
Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of its pixels: no individual element of Dungeon of the Endless is especially complicated, but together they form a fiendish and unforgiving challenge. If you’re willing to take that on then it makes it more than worthwhile, borrowing from several genres to create something that feels unique - as well as bursting with personality and smart choices. It’s likely to be a relatively limited love affair, but one with no shortage of extra challenges if you escape its initial dungeon and still crave more.
There is a fantastic depth to every last detail this game and it also includes a multiplayer mode allowing you to combine your alien smashing wiles with a friend. Dungeon of the Endless is meant to be played like a game of chess. You assess your environment in line with your resources, you intelligently plan your attacks well in advance and every move you make should be part of a big picture strategy. It’s polished and well put together and I have no hesitation in recommending it to fans of the tower defence genre and newcomers alike.
A unique game full of familiar components, Dungeon of the Endless is as its best while you're still figuring it out, but continues to entertain many hours in.
I’m always a fan of established developers trying something new. Especially for strategy game teams, where it’s easy to fall into the Paradox trap where every game becomes variations of the same idea. Not only does that get monotonous for the player, but the developers get bored too. Bored developers don’t make great games, just look at Total War pre-Warhammer. Still there’s a difference between trying something new and doing what Amplitude Studios did with Dungeon of the Endless. Ins...
When it comes to video games, nothing's more hardcore than exploring a brutally difficult dungeon. Dungeon of the Endless may not be your typical roguelike yet there's no denying just how habit-forming it is.

Blood in an elevator.
Personally, I don't like having so much left to chance, but I can definitely see the appeal. There's tremendous satisfaction in making it through a floor that you've been stuck on for several playthroughs. Each success is like overcoming the impossible. It's also hard to get bored with a level that's different each time you play it. For hardcore players, Dungeon of the Endless could be the game that will occupy your time and mind for what seems to be... well... endless ages.
Dungeon of the Endless is a challenging and rewarding game that allows you to learn and grow with it. The more time you put in, the more enjoyment you will find.
