That one very mild disappointment aside, I’ve loved the opportunity to go back to the early era of Musou with Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered. Koei Tecmo have nailed the way to handle a remaster of a nostalgic title – the team has made the refinements that allow you to remember the game that you loved playing, without being reminded that, with the passage of time, most games “age poorly” and both aesthetics and gameplay systems have been improved on over the decades since. I wouldn’t recommend this to someone as their first-ever Warriors title, but if you came to the…
DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered builds on the foundation of the original DYNASTY WARRIORS 3, and that foundation is as solid today as it was in 2002. It’s an amazingly good time, and once I turn the game on, I can’t stop playing.
Growing up, I had a few PlayStation 2 games that were in rotation, but none of them had nearly the playtime that Dynasty Warriors 3 got. Dynasty Warriors 3 is arguably the game that popularized the musou genre, so it makes sense that Koei Tecmo would remaster it first. For decades, fans have argued whether […]
DYNASTY WARRIORS 3: Complete Edition Remastered is a wordy title for what is the most accessible and sharpest way to play the PlayStation 2 classic. It’s a pretty good game with occasional levels of frustration and some slightly-anachronistic game design. But that’s also why it works. This game was born in an era of experimentation and pushing what could be done on the hardware of its time, and this remaster is the best presentation of a game which laid the foundation for the musou-rich landscape we enjoy today.

Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered - after rebooting the franchise with Origins, Koei's DW3 update is a nostalgic victory lap.
Why do we call it a romance when all three kingdoms are trying to kil each other?
Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered is the best way to experience the game, and is a must try for Warriors fans.
This remaster of Dynasty Warriors 3 marks the return of the definitive classic entry with toggleable new features, although it still has several quirks.
The remaster experience is marked by graphical improvements and enhanced quality of life for an important title in the Koei Tecmo franchise.
Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered has a long title, but also a lot of content to offer. Read more here!
Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered preserves the exhilarating scale and accessible combat that define the Musou formula.
Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered is a fantastic way to experience the classic Warriors gameplay, especially on the Steam Deck, but not all of its old ways have aged well.
Review: It does what it set out to do, but Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered just feels a little old these days.
With Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered, Koei Tecmo goes back to a title that set the bases for the Musou format.
Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered is the first remaster of the Dynasty Warriors series from Koei Tecmo and Omega Force, and hopefully not the last. While musou games aren't a groundbreaking genre in 2026, it's fun to just hack and slash at cannon fodder as you try your best to complete the objective (usually to win). Though, it's disappointing to see not many updates regarding accessibility features. Regardless, while the formula isn't new, it's great for those nostalgic fans and newcomers to the series.
Returning to Dynasty Warriors 3 with its new graphics may be particularly challenging for many people. This isn't the game that anyone entering the musou sect should start with.
For many Dynasty Warriors 3 Complete Edition Remastered will be a lovely nostalgia trip, but it's not nearly as impressive as modern Musous.
