ENDLESS Dungeon is an exceptional example of genre-crossing excitement that offers players an ever-changing adventure in rich surroundings. The love, attention (and Dust) that Amplitude Studios has clearly poured into this title elevates it to a worthy addition to the already-fantastic ENDLESS universe.

Endless Dungeon is well worth a shot if you're after a co-op rogue-lite to play with your friends. As a solo player it might be a bit too repetitive for a full completion, but there's still plenty of fun to be found here.

Endless Dungeon tries to do a lot and is largely successful. However, the mix of genres and focus on roguelite elements over tower defense falls a bit flat in the crowded roguelite space. It provides a few hours of fun, especially with a friend, but Endless it is not.

ENDLESS Dungeonn is one of those very rare roguelites that bring so much to the table and just can’t help but bury itself into your brain with the next challenge that needs to be faced off against.

Endless Dungeon is a dungeon-delving delight, shaking up a batch of mechanics and turning in a heady cocktail that’s as good at home as it is served up in a space-station saloon.

Endless Dungeon attempts to marry the concepts of roguelike progression, isometric twin-stick shooters, tower defense, and run-of-the-mill escort missions into one appealing package. There is a problem, though: out of the gate, I didn’t find most of my time with Endless Dungeon all that fun. That isn’t to say the game is bad overall, but the review felt like a chore, and you’ll soon understand why.

A beautifully crafted genre mash-up.

Endless Dungeon is a tough one to critique, though it fully deserves it in some areas. The team at Amplitude succeeded in creating a fun roguelite, tower defense, twin-stick dungeon crawler that will entertain for hours. At the same time, it doesn’t excel in anything it brings to the table, fails to innovate, and even falls inexplicably short in some obvious places. This is one to buy on sale.

Endless Dungeon is a great game that blends many genres, but shines more in co-op play.

October 21, 2023 Read Review

Despite some minor drawbacks, Endless Dungeon excels in blending various genres seamlessly and providing an engaging, constantly fresh, thrilling experience to anyone who enjoys innovative games.

Exploration in a roguelike always comes with risks because it puts you in more danger. You risk losing your hard-earned progress and items, but you could put yourself in a better position. Endless Dungeon takes that concept and runs with it, introducing several variables to pay attention to. Put together a team of unlikely heroes and make your way to the bottom of a dungeon, with everyone seeking personal answers.

Endless Dungeon clearly achieves what it aims to do. Here we have a game that takes a couple of tried and tested genres and puts an original spin into them, with the result both oozing familiarity and novelty, successfully breaking free from the occasional stiffness of tower defense and roguelike gameplay. Cleverly balancing moments of tactics and all-out action, this is a game best enjoyed alongside a couple of players, but it manages to be a fun romp even on your own, as you try to reach the core and finally escape back to normality.

Individual heroes have their own loosely readable class affinities (like tank/healer/scout) and loot-dropped heavy guns or handguns are restricted to certain characters for use. They also each wield a unique passive ability, can equip up to two weapons at a time, and use a special move and an ultimate, but any hero can install turrets in designated slots throughout each map. Most any group of heroes can typically hold their own against small waves, but those turrets quickly become a necessity. There are a few different elemental damage turrets, as well as buffing turrets, which can affect things like critical damage or overall DPS in a given room. Shoving a turret repairs it and, after it’s destroyed enough monsters, will upgrade it to be even more efficient.

A very satisfying tower defence roguelike, except the "tower" has legs.

When played in solo mode, Endless Dungeon creates a functional blend of elements from different genres that, unfortunately, fails to capitalize on the uniqueness of its universe and keep things interesting in the long run. Stale rogue-lite progression systems alongside heroes and guns that do not go through significant transformations as you play then fuel tedium.

Endless Dungeon will have players coming for the unique blend of rip-roaring action and tower defense, but what should keep them around is the impressive and lovable cast of characters, along with their various stories to become invested in. But whether you want gunplay, strategy, exploration or story, this is a game can provide it all in one simple-yet-deep package, making for a terrific experience that's not to be missed out on. Now to get back to helping the bartenders find that drink recipe among the piles of bug corpses...

Endless Dungeon is an entertaining, polished, and finely-tuned roguelike, expertly blending action and tactics to fill each trip with dozens of impactful micro-decisions. While visibility can be an issue during packed battles, presentation overall is bright and clean, and supported by some classy character design. Co-op play is the icing on an already tasty cake.

Endless Dungeon is a stylish, impressive experiment with genres.

October 16, 2023 Read Review

While its meshing of genres may not be as avant-garde as when Dungeon of the Endless debuted, Endless Dungeon is still a fun roguelike experience.

October 16, 2023 Read Review

The visuals, music and game mechanics for Endless Dungeon were magnificent achievements, but the technical aspects should be prioritized before the official release.
