Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns offers everything a seasoned player could want in an expansion, and more. Coupled with ArenaNet's track record of continuous free updates, it should be an automatic purchase for anyone at or near the max level.
ArenaNet's excellent MMO welcomes you to the jungle.
Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns is a fantastic addition to already fun and enjoyable MMO. If you’re a fan of the vanilla game you’ll most certainly enjoy Heart of Thorns. It may have taken a while to get here, but it was worth the wait. For those of you who haven’t played Guild Wars 2 yet, make sure to check it out, as the base game is now 100% free to play, and then check out Heart of Thorns when you get a chance.
Heart of Thorns is a long anticipated and widely welcomed addition to Guild Wars 2. Offering a wealth of new content to test even the most hardened players and with much more to look forward to, Guild Wars 2 remains one of the best MMORPGs currently available.
In an age when too many MMORPGs rely on the same old formula, Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns does a commendable job of evolving the gameplay that's made it so popular over the years. When it stumbles, it's in its ostensibly open-ended mastery progression that's more set in stone than it seems, and in its heavy group and dynamic event focus that doesn't always jive with empty maps. Even so, it does a good job of overcoming these shortcomings with an entertaining story, a fun new class, generally attractive elite specializations, and a new vertical focus on exploration.
Guild Wars 2 gets a new expansion. Is it worth returning to the MMO? Find out in our review!
