Hitman: Episode 4 - Bangkok Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Bangkok embraces its more densely packed Hotel level design with some clever depth, but ultimately doesn't stand out more than its predecessors.
Hitman Episode 4: Bangkok gets proceedings back on track after the somewhat bland Marrakesh malarkey of Episode 3. The Himmapan resort may lack the size and scope of Sapienza, and it isn’t quite the classic Hitman hotel level I was after, but it still boasts plenty of problem solving and murderous mayhem within its walls.
I only wish that one day, long after this incarnation, there’ll be a Hitman game with true narrative consequence, where a breadcrumb trail of slip-ups might lead the police or some other organisation straight to my door, while another player might produce such smooth and clean “accidents” that no such fate awaits them. That player – the silent assassin - will leave through their front door and disappear. Whereas I’ll try and climb out my window and get shot in the back.
A familiar setting makes for some excellent kills in Hitman's latest episode.
Episode 4 is another terrific addition to Agent 47’s latest. After a less spectacular stay in Marrakesh and a fairly limited detour in the Summer Bonus Episode, Bangkok provides another terrific level for further murderous possibilities, and one I can’t wait to revisit as more targets make their unfortunate lodgings at the resort.
What makes Hitman unique in every episode is its location. We can tell each apart as it’s based off on different countries. Now, here lies the question: did IO able to capture how Bangkok, Thailand should look and feel like. And the answer is – almost there. You have this yellow-ish filter vibrant effect in the front part of the hotel with 2 gold elephant statue, and well placed coconut trees and concrete planters to capture that Thailand atmosphere.
