It’s time for the annual first-person shooter shoot-out as the game makers at Electronic Arts try yet again to go head-to-head with the gaming superpower that is Call of Duty. This year they’ve married the tech that powered Battlefield 3 with the attention to military detail of Medal of Honor to create Medal of Honor: Warfighte,r but does the result have enough firepower to outmaneuver Black Ops 2?
Medal of Honor Warfighter seems content to keep up with the competition instead of offering anything new. A short campaign isn't as gripping as the original, and multiplayer mileage may vary.
Podium finish?
Gorgeous visuals and high production values can only carry a poor experience so far. Expect to spend a lot of time waiting, watching, and wondering why you’re bothering to play at all during Medal of Honor Warfighter’s disappointing, confusing campaign. At its core, Warfighter is a functional shooter built on trite design ideas, but significant technical problems knock it below the realm of mediocrity. This isn’t just an upsetting sequel or me-too military shooter – Warfighter is disrespectful of your time and unwilling or unable to adapt to what’s been done better elsewhere.
Shooting in Warfighter is excellent, and the presentation is great, but it doesn't stop the game from being broken literally, and thematically.
Inspired by true events is an interesting strapline, especially when you watch it appear time and time again before each chapter of the bewildering, high octane, do or die story in Medal of Honor: Warfighter. Was a watery boat escape through a flooded town, as you bombard foes on partially submerged houses, a true event? Or the initial level that sees an entire dockyard explode in near apocalyptic fury, while you blast a helicopter from the sky singlehandedly, also a true event? Because if th...
