My Time at Sandrock is a game that you’ll have no trouble getting into if you’re a fan of the genre. If you’re new to cosy games on the whole, though, it’s also one that is easy to pick up and play - making it a great entry-level title for those checking out something slower in the colder months and dark nights.

A few years ago, Pathea released My Time at Portia. When I saw it was slice-of-life, a flame lit up under my ass. What can I say? I’m a simp for the genre. I’m obligated to drop the cash, so that’s what I did. I bought it, booted it, and my opinions began. I liked it, yet impressions were kind of lukewarm. It didn’t enthrall, but it wasn’t garbage, either.

Pathea Games returns to its rebuilding post-apocalyptic world with My Time at Sandrock. The game certainly doesn't skimp on the content, making for another pleasing entry in the life sim genre.

My Time at Sandrock is the perfect follow-up to My Time at Portia - building upon every solid idea from that first title, while also doing so much to give this new one a unique world and unique mechanics that set it apart from any other farm sim.

My Time at Sandrock is a true desert gem, with a fantastic main plot, amazing characters, fun art style and a variety of systems that will keep you busy for as long as you want, marred only by a few minor technical issues.

If you don't mind a bit of idle time and trying to find something to do in between missions that may or may not mean days more of waiting for the right resources for your side task, the old-western bandits and those darn Geeglers really did keep my time at Sandrock interesting.

It’s been almost a year and a half since Pathea’s My Time At Sandrock was released into Early Access. Sandrock is a cosy mismatch of a game, combining mechanics and gameplay styles from the farming/life/building sims many know and love. Set in the desert oasis town of Sandrock, you play as a new builder who’s come to rebuild the town to its former glory. All at the same time, a conspiracy theory develops about a local bandit trying to steal the town’s only natural resource, water. Sin...

One of the largest mechanics in the game is the player's workshop and its role within the Commerce Guild. While in Portia players contended with rival builder Higgins, this time around they'll form an alliance of sorts with fellow builder Mi-an who arrived in Sandrock at the same time, both working under Guild president Yan. Each commission - which can range from small requests of materials to large-scale pieces like bridge pieces - will earn money, relationship points with the requester, and reputation towards the workshop. The main story unfolds through larger projects, like a rebuilt bridge opening up a...

My Time at Sandrock sets the bar for sequels with its overhaul of entertaining content and drastic improvements from its predecessor. You won't be able to put down this game until you've fully revamped this rustic town using your building expertise.

My Time at Sandrock is a decent new entry in the farm sim genre, though not one that we’d say you need to play. To its credit, its mixture of open-ended farming, crafting, socializing, and questing is compelling and could easily drive dozens of hours of gameplay if it gets its hooks in you. However, everything My Time at Sandrock does has been done elsewhere, and better. Couple this with the mess of technical problems at launch, and you’ve got a game that has its draws but does very little to demonstrate that it’s worthy of your attention. If you’ve...

My Time at Sandrock is like a meticulously constructed building. It’s expertly crafted upon the solid foundation of its predecessor. The post-apocalyptic setting is an architectural marvel that balances vibrant hues with pockets of profound depth and emotion. However, like any construction project, this game has its quirks. The frequent stutters and eternal loading screens make this building creak in the wind. The User Interface, too, could use a touch of redesign.
