I thought only console players saw their triple-A games bunched up in the fourth quarter of the year, but it seems the App Store is enjoying a similar bounty in 2009. Hands down the best iPhone racer since Real Racing, Need for Speed Shift offers a superlative single-player career that will keep your hands glued to your iPhone for hours. As somebody that is still enjoying Shift on the Xbox 360, seeing such a strong translation to the iPhone is exceedingly heartening. Well done.
Need For Speed: Shift is a brilliant new start for the franchise and has clearly been built by a team that loves racing. Shift comes highly recommended to all racing game fans.
Need For Speed Shift plays host to a range of car manufacturers, race-tracks and events.
Back in it's hay day, The Need For Speed: Series, really was in a class all it's own. It was all about exotic cars and putting the pedal to the medal in the open road. Throughout it's history the game never took the actual racing too seriously, from a technical standpoint at least. Don’t waste time doing anything you don’t want, like waiting in loading or menu screens, go out and race! And that’s just what Shift...
PROS = Cockpit view is very detailed and beautiful, It's very easy to drive in Cockpit view, Sound is executed perfectly in almost every aspect from sound of the car to the commentary everything is top notch, Car models look beautiful and damage detail is great, Controls are perfect for a game which tries to be an arcade and Simulator at same time, The different Driving styles mechanism is a good addition, Customization as always is great. CONS = City looks a little rough around edges at times, The Career mode is weak as compared to it's competitors, Drifting controls are very awkward. FINAL...
The Need for Speed series has always styled itself on the seedier side of racing, with underground races, plenty of cops and enough customisation for you to pimp your car to the sun and back (though sadly no fluffy dice). The latest instalment has decided to do away with all of that nonsense and take a step into the light, as it tries to become a more serious, simulation based racer. For fans of the series and the gritty racing it always embodied, it is a bit of a body blow, though it has to ...
