Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven shows the SaGa series at its best. It may be a remake but it is one with a lot of love for the series.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is one of the most unique RPGs in the market. With a focus on character customization and non-linear storytelling, it certainly breaks many staples of the genre but doesn't abandon its roleplaying roots. It might be a niche game for many, but it is a delightful and unforgettable experience.

The SaGa series has seen a variety of remakes and remasters in recent years to bring the niche series to a wider audience. Is Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven another win for the series, or will gamers be seeking their own revenge?

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a classic through and through. Not many games have such unique systems and concepts and choose to stick by them after all of these years. This is a remake done with the utmost respect to the original, featuring modern accommodations that increase the ease of play while not diminishing the experience. Battles are strategic and fast-paced with many variables...

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a fantastic JRPG that is one of my favorites I have played in recent years, and it's wonderful on Steam Deck.

This polished remake of an obscure JRPG gem is the most inviting way to dive into Square Enix's long-running SaGa series.

In this non-linear RPG, rule and expand the Empire of Varennes across multiple generations. Discover a vast array of story experiences as you fight the Seven Heroes in an epic battle that plays out over thousands of years. PC version reviewed. Review copy provided by company for testing purposes.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a complete 3D remake of the 1993 classic Romancing SaGa 2. The SaGa franchise has always enjoyed playing around with the tropes and trappings of JRPGs, and this title is no exception. While some pieces of this old game are frustrating and the monster design confuses me, it’s still a fun time if you’re willing to meet it where it’s at.

If you can get behind an RPG that focuses less on its story and more on its rich gameplay, then Romancing Saga 2 is down to boogie.

Trying to please both die-hard fans and newcomers is no easy feat, yet they’ve managed to strike an interesting balance between preserving what made the original special while adding some modern touches. Let’s dive into what works and what could use some polish with the 3D remake of Romancing SaGa 2.

Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven is a bit of an underwhelming RPG that has some unique gameplay mechanics. The open-ended world narrative structure feels freeing, but the characters are boring. The glimmer mechanic is fun, but the battle system lacks a strategic hook. Each of its gameplay systems is a double-edged sword, as we’d find a particular aspect enticing while another was baffling. I...
