Seasons after Fall is beautiful game that exists to dazzle you with handcrafted imperfect art and animation. This is an experience that isn’t for everyone, as some gamers feel their time is better spent in a more perfect art like Child of Light or Abzû. However, for those that fall in love with imperfection, this game is the perfect addition to your library.
It’s without a doubt that Focus Home Interactive's Seasons After Fall is a gorgeous game. It’s also easy to consider similarities when regarding the visual style to Ori and the Blind Forest, as its gorgeous pastels remind us of Moon Studios' masterpiece from 2015. However, Seasons After Fall is its own unique piece of elegance, as the game takes you through a relaxing and subdued adventure throughout the seasons of the year.
It bears repeating just how beautiful Seasons After Fall is both visually and musically. When paired with the interesting season manipulation mechanic, the result is a highly enjoyable puzzle-platformer that actually requires both physical and mental dexterity to complete. It is not flawless, but the occasional niggles are outweighed by the gorgeous aesthetics and the moments of puzzle solving satisfaction.
Seasons After Fall is a 2D platformer in which you play as a cute fox who can control the seasons at will. It sounds like a winning combination but is its gameplay as appealing as its premise?
If you are a platformer enthusiast who likes jumping around and solving puzzles, you will probably enjoy this game. Just go into the game expecting great visuals and a soundtrack, and you will not be unduly disappointed.
To put it bluntly, Seasons After Fall is “pleasant.” A world with a great feeling experience that tends to knock you out of it when moving around. As much as I appreciate a game as relaxed as this, that relaxation never quite became true enjoyment.
Seasons After Fall‘s story is almost like a child’s favorite bedtime book with its adorable illustrations. Making the story not too complicated to understand, but the message it conveyed was deep. Its music is very relaxing coupled with sounds of nature making it so pleasant to the ears. Some puzzles take time to be solved but all of them were good enough. Graphics is stunning, the paint art style is nicely done especially when the seasons change. The game is a chill and a good experience for platform lovers and totally recommendable and worth the time to spend on.
