The Entropy Centre Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
The Entropy Centre is far and away one of the best first-person puzzlers you can play. If the genre does anything for you, you should come away satisfied with what the game has in store.
I could make this the shortest effective review possible by saying "The Entropy Centre is essentially Portal crossed with Tenet". That is essentially the core
If you like puzzle games with brilliant stories, deviously clever puzzles, an incredible atmosphere, and an emotionally charged soundtrack buy this game. The Entropy Centre came out of nowhere and floored me with its brilliance; the less you know before you go in, the better of an experience it will be.
The Entropy Centre is a puzzle/platformer from solo indie developer, Stubby Games that borrows from the best. The best being Valve’s 2007 Portal. It’s apparent from the moment you start the game, that The Entropy Centre’s ancestry is firmly linked to Portal. You can check out our preview here for the game – The Entropy Centre.
The Entropy Center is an excellent puzzle game that's as much its own thing as it is an homage to the classics, and is easily one of the most pleasant surprises of 2022.
Upon starting The Entropy Centre for the first time, you are greeted with a really bizarre intro cutscene of a planet blowing up, and your eventual awakening inside a derelict laboratory, with no humans to be seen, just a handful of AIs to interact with. It takes approximately 3.2 milliseconds to realize this game’s main source of inspiration is none other than Portal. If that alone wasn’t obvious enough, the moment the game introduces its main gameplay gimmick, the coattail riding become...
I don’t envy the developers of puzzle games. They have to create puzzles formidable enough to be challenging and exciting, but not so much that the player feels more burdened than empowered. The best walk that line almost perfectly, and The Entropy Centre is chock full of them. But The Entropy Centre is more than its brain teasers, and it’s that “more” where the game hits its stumbling blocks. Despite that, its core design is unlike anything I’ve ever played, and genre enthusiasts will find that this game bends their brains in new ways worth experiencing. I only wish the game’s pacing and poli...
While there may be a few stumbles along the way, The Entropy Centre has a unique twist on a familiar premise in this particular genre. It may not redefine it in any new ways, but it's something that will help scratch an itch in a brand-new way.
A huge step forward from the demo, The Entropy Centre is a fantastic game and playing it on Deck feels right at home with some tweaking!
If you're itching for some first-person puzzle-solving in the same vein as Portal and The Turing Test then check out The Entropy Centre.
This is a must-have puzzle game that is both entertaining and challenging!
