The Night of the Rabbit Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
The Night of the Rabbit was one of the first games I ever reviewed when it first came out back in 2013 on PC, I still remember my creaky old laptop could
In The Night Of The Rabbit you accompany Jerry as he travels this mystic world and unravel the Marquis' sinister secret. 12 year old Jerry's greatest dream is to become a wizard.
Night of the Rabbit faithfully follows the tried and true traditions of the adventure game genre while leveraging modern technologies in a very well produced game. Appropriate for the entire family and providing a compelling, well-written story, this one is worth a look.
Beyond the journey itself, there are some extra things to do and collect along the way. The most notable of these is a game called quartets, which is played with cards – including some you can collect during the adventure. The tale, art and characters are best described as enchanting, and overall this game helps to prove that there is still life in the point-and-click adventure genre.
A child’s story book brought to life, Night of the Rabbit is an elegantly presented pilgrimage into Mousewood and what it means to be a magician’s apprentice. At times dark and at times wonderfully sweet, it is prone towards being sometimes vexing but that shouldn’t stop you from following the Marquis de Hotto down his rabbit hole.
As such, The Night of the Rabbit will blur together with many other adventure games. It will be enjoyed by many and forgotten by more. Nothing about it will blow your mind, yet nothing is so terrible that it should be avoided. This should not sway die hard adventure fans, but advise those unfamiliar with the genre to take a peek at a different kind of average. The Night of the Rabbit is a game designed for all audiences in a genre rooted in gaming history. Plus, it feels good to be a kid again.
Lumpy pacing and some odd puzzles aside, Daedalic's adventure can compel anyone to venture down this rabbit hole.Don't let the childlike fantasy and anthropomorphic woodland creatures fool you, The Night of the Rabbit can be quite challenging. [...]
The Night of the Rabbit, regardless of what it’s called and the few other minor complaints I had, is a triumph. It’s Daedalic once and for all proving that they are indeed capable of producing an adventure that can stand tall with the classics of the genre. It’s charming, lovable, challenging but rarely unfair, and expertly nudges you in the right direction most of the time while still making sure you’re the one who solves all the puzzles. It’s funny, moving, sweet, and surprising. ...
