There is a lot of trial and error to be had here, and having multiple gamers obviously means more minds to figure out the puzzle, but more opportunities to mess up. In particular I liked the character who propels things forward. My son liked to create blocks and jump on them before I would shoot said block across chasms to solve some of the puzzles. Sometimes I played to playfully ‘grief’ him and launch him into walls too. He would reciprocate in kind with different powers. Tiny Brains is a solid puzzle game and a lot of fun with friends, but the high price, lack of puzzle variety, and short length hold it back from the PSN greats.New console launches are exciting, but it’s hard to deny that after burning through the launch games available [...]
Science: it’s a wonderful thing. Without science, we’d still be muddling through the dark ages, in a world without Facebook and instant soup. Of course, before such manmade wonders can exist, they need to be tested – and what better way is there to trial such innovations than by exploiting poor animals? Don’t call PETA just yet, though, because the four furry subjects in Tiny Brains are fighting back with supernatural abilities.
You can play Tiny Brains alone, but this puzzle game is built for co-op. You combine the unique powers of four rodents in different ways to move through a lab. You can play by yourself, switching between the rodents, or with up to three other players.
There’s a great idea at the core of Tiny Brains. When it works, having four people sitting on a single sofa and working together to solve a tricky puzzle provides a great moment of local comradely that’s sorely lacking from modern gaming. Sadly, those moments are way too few and far between, and only the most patient of people will be willing to wade through the rest of the game in order to find them.
