A fun additional chapter for Tyranny, but suffers from the same weaknesses.

Bastard’s Wound is, simply put, more Tyranny. Compared to something like The White March, I found it to have surprisingly few things that end up truly standing out once you’ve left the settlement behind. It does add some hours’ worth of good dialogue and dungeon delving to Tyranny’s third act, while balancing dialogue and combat encounters well enough.  Be that as it may, it doesn’t shake up the game as much as it could and, perhaps, should, which leaves us with a good, but not exactly vital expansion.

Bastard’s wound makes no profound changes to Tyranny. It provides a small amount of content with just as many paths to choose as you’d expect from Tyranny. On the whole, therefore, my experience with The Bastard’s Wound DLC for Tyranny was a positive one. In building on the fantastic world built through the main game, this extra episode provides a powerful insight into the personal costs of the political and military concerns of the game’s larger narrative arc. The additional subquest for Lantry (the sage character) is particularly relevant here, focusing as it does on the responsibilities and power held by historians and chroniclers as they attempt to document ongoing conflicts.
