Somebody's been a bad dragon.

Despite my fervent love for RPGs, the appeal of the intricacies of the side-scrolling 2D action RPG genre has always eluded me. Yet, whether it was Dragon Marked for Death’s awesome name or the development team – Inti Creates (Mega Man Zero, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon) – behind it, I felt invigorated to possibly grasp the love that so many have felt for these types of games.

Though the game takes a bit more guessing than I’d like to figure out, it’s still a great game. As a huge fan of Azure Striker Gunvolt, I was expecting more polished gameplay from Dragon: Marked for Death and it delivered.   Rushing through maps to fight bosses and pick up loot before time runs out is great fun, and definitely worth the small learning curve the game has. Despite being in development for eight or more years, Dragon Marked for Death could have actually used more time in the oven. I’m sure there is a great game buried somewhere in there but between its lack of balance, less-than-ideal controls, boring levels, and unfortunate co-op requirements, the end product isn’t nearly up to the level of the rest of Inti Creates’s catalog.
