Valkyria Chronicles Remastered Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Valkyria Chronicles is, simply, one of the best tactical games you’ll ever play. It’s serious, but doesn’t take itself too seriously. It’s emotionally compelling while never losing sight of the fact it’s also a game. It’s a popular and well-regarded game that, for whatever reason, people simply don’t talk about it enough. Hopefully with this PlayStation 4 release that will change.
All in all, Valkyria Chronicles was, and still is, one of the best strategy RPGs ever made, and this accomplished and very welcome PS4 port does it the justice it deserves. From its beautiful and timeless visuals to its engaging and often epic battles, everything about the game feels like it has been made with love and care, ensuring every moment spent with it is to be treasured. If you’ve never played Valkyria Chronicles before and are interested in the genre, consider this remaster a must-have. In fact, scrap that. If you just love games consider Valkyria Chronicles Remastered a must-have. T...
Unfortunately, as far as re-releases go, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered delivers the bare minimum. The original DLC missions and an Expert difficulty are also included, if you’re a glutton for punishment. Outside of that there are no additional bells and whistles, which is a bit disappointing, but it doesn’t tarnish the overall shine of the game itself.
Valkyria Chronicles returns again to the big screen.
Valkyria Chronicles is, at its core, a deep strategy title that puts an innovative spin on traditional turn-based combat and frames this all with a lavish,
Fans of the game should certainly go back to it if they haven't picked it up off of Steam yet and anyone on the fence should give it a go if they like tactical shooters with small RPG elements.
Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is just as great of a game as it was eight years ago. Having it perform better and run smoother is a gift. A few things hold it back from perfection, but I’d rather have a war game strive for something new and risky like this than go with safe boilerplate action sequences. I’m happy Sega took a chance on this one. And maybe if enough people pick this up, the next game in the series will come this way.
Valkyria Chronicles Remastered is set in a fictitious continent reminiscent of 1930s Europe - divided in two and ruled by the Empire and the Federation. The game follows a hero named Welkin and his fellow soldiers of the Federation's 7th Platoon as they engage in a series of epic battles.
Sega's beloved 2008 JRPG has come to PS4. How good is the remaster? Read our Valkyria Chronicles Remastered review and find out!
I went into this review really wanting to enjoy Valkyria Chronicles Remastered having not played any of the previous games in the series. After watching a trailer and learning a little about the back story of the game, it sounded unique and interesting. After playing many of
In the year 1935 CE, two Europan superpowers were on the brink of starting the Second Europan War. The commonwealth of allied states known as the Atlantic Federation filled the west of Europa with the Europan Imperial Alliance, or Empire for short, dominated the eastern half of the continent. Both superpowers’ economies were driven by a precious ore known as Ragnite, a crystal that’s analogous to Petroleum from the modern world. With its superior military prowess, the Empire uses its momentum and military advantage to press forward in an attempt to bolster its stocks of Ragnite and invades the...
