Vanquish

As Japan tries to tune its output towards Western tastes, many traditionalists, like ourselves, are worrying that the classic style of Japanese gameplay is prone to change. We've enough Western developed third- and first-person shooters to play — the last thing we need is for the Japanese to try their hand at a game of colour-by-numbers.

Vanquish is a fast-paced shooter filled with over-the-top gunfights in stunning sci-fi set pieces, making every other shooter look plodding, sluggish, and pokey in comparison.

Vanquish is a stylish, spectacular looking game with great gunplay and some stunning set pieces. Although the game's story and character development pale in comparison to the action, I had a great time with Vanquish from the in-game tutorial all the way to the ending credits. Even though Mikami's latest creation is difficult at times, players looking for a highly entertaining shooter should look no further. Vanquish will keep you on the edge of your multi-thruster booster seat.

Vanquish gets another shot at the limelight fixing its presentation flaws from the first time it was released. With possible 4K resolution and an unlocked, constant frame rate during its high paced action sequences, the PC version of Vanquish is the definitive version.

Forgetting about all that was supposedly going on and focusing on just the action at hand Vanquish is pretty damn good.  The visuals are amazing, the combat was good but not great, and the action fast paced and hectic.
