Professional reviews from gaming critics

Of course, with so many fun and positive aspects, there are also a few pitfalls. Avatar movements can be clunky and easily interrupted; fired shots sometimes don't end up landing where one would expect; and large chunks of castle can be held up, rather unconvincingly, by a very small area. Despite this, most of the 60 levels you will encounter are easily playable, and the aforementioned flaws are few and far between.

My first introduction to Wreckateer was during the annual madness known as E3.  As I watched the demo on stage at Microsoft’s Press Conference I was somewhat skeptical of what the game had to offer, and I questioned whether or not Microsoft’s motion sensor would be adequate enough for such a puzzle game.  Well, I have had some time to play the final XBLA version, and although the game is far from perfect, I think that this game deserves a look for those looking for something new for their Kinect.

In longer sessions, Wreckateer exposes the extent of its creativity, leaving you with little to wonder about and discover as you grind through too-similar stages. But it works both as a Kinect puzzle game and a relaxing casual diversion. You can distract yourself with a few rounds of ripping structures to pieces and go on with your day, and come back later to enjoy more.
