A remake of the XIII game from 2003. The game is a first-person shooter where you play as Thirteen, a talented soldier who lost his memory and has been accused of killing the President of the United States. You first wake up injured and amnesic on Brighton Beach with the only clue being a small key and a mysterious tattoo XIII next to your clavicle...

XIII features a conspiracy of epic proportions, and players will unravel clues behind the story’s compelling and mysterious events. XIII includes themes of amnesia, in which players must uncover sinister plots against themselves, the U.S. government, and even the president himself. The only clues players have are the roman numerals XIII tattooed on their shoulder and a key to a safe deposit box in a New York bank.
Although XIII is a bit lacking in the depth department, the comic book presentation deserves to be seen at least once. Shooter fans should like this game. What's there is fun, even if you may have played it before in other games.
The remake of 2003's XIII made its way to PlayStation 5 with a brand new iteration so let's see how this first-person shooter holds up.
XIII has a unique and potentially interesting premise, but the game doesn't really differentiate itself from the wide array of other first-person shooters on the market.
If you were planning to buy the XIII remake, I strongly suggest you wait, at least until some of the biggest bugs in the game are addressed. Playing XIII in its current status would be nothing but an extremely disappointing experience. You’re better off reinstalling the original version of the game rather than playing this remake at the time being.
With the brilliant heights that remakes of Resident Evil 2, for example, achieved last year, it felt inevitable that a remake like XIII would stand as the exact opposite result in that regard. Whether or not you're the type to maybe excuse some of the failings as unanswerable solutions to an aged approach to game design, it doesn't take away from just how little care and effort PlayMagic have placed in the other departments. Enemy intelligence that's practically non-existent, an overuse on what seems like a meager, hurriedly-compiled assembly of audio and visual assets. On top of a gunplay pre...
XIII is a game that was first released back in 2003, being notable for its inclusion of cel-shaded graphics and voice work from the likes of David Duchovny (X-Files) and the late Adam West (Batman, Family Guy), but as is fairly common these days, a remake was never too far off. Does this new remake provide enough reason to dive back into the conspiracy, or are you better off pretending like you have amnesia and avoiding it entirely?
The only good thing about this remake is that it's a great example of how not to do one.
Many fans of the cult classic XIII were excited for the remake. Unfortunately when it was released in 2020, it was comparable in quality to the remastered GTA Trilogy. Since then it has had an overhaul by a fresh developer and has been re-released for current-gen consoles. Can this version please fans of the original game and make up for the disaster of the 2020 remake?
PlayMagic's XIII may get better after several patches, but right now it's a broken, buggy mess that plays like a generic shooter and looks worse than the 2003 original. If you really want to play XIII, go play that instead.
