Vanquish is a fast-paced shooter filled with over-the-top gunfights in stunning sci-fi set pieces, making every other shooter look plodding, sluggish, and pokey in comparison.
As Japan tries to tune its output towards Western tastes, many traditionalists, like ourselves, are worrying that the classic style of Japanese gameplay is prone to change. We've enough Western developed third- and first-person shooters to play — the last thing we need is for the Japanese to try their hand at a game of colour-by-numbers.
Vanquish is a new futuristic action game under development at Platinum Games, known for Bayonetta and MadWorld. Cureently there are few details known but it looks like New York is under attack by an out of space type laser beam, and you play a mech like soldier sent in to pick up the pieces.
You can never trust a Russian. Thanks to Gears of War, cover-based third-person-shooters have had a rampant resurgence on the PS3 and 360 for [...]
Vanquish is a stylish, spectacular looking game with great gunplay and some stunning set pieces. Although the game's story and character development pale in comparison to the action, I had a great time with Vanquish from the in-game tutorial all the way to the ending credits. Even though Mikami's latest creation is difficult at times, players looking for a highly entertaining shooter should look no further. Vanquish will keep you on the edge of your multi-thruster booster seat.

The campaign isn’t long and can be completed in around six to eight hours. There are leader boards, challenge rooms, and adequate achievements to collect. Vanquish is a stylish and incredible game that has a lot of great gunplay and stunning environments. Even though it was a short seven hours for me I had a great time from start to finish. Overall if you’re looking for something outside the populist gaming library then you should check out Vanquish.
At first glance, it seems that Vanquish is a little bit in love with Metal Gear Solid; not that they're similar games. Far from it, in fact. But with a gruff-sounding hero in Sam Gideon, channelling the wise-ass gravelly tones of Solid Snake and a button that allows you to take a drag on a cigarette, it's impossible not to make the comparison, especially given how off the wall the game can be at times. However, Vanquish couldn't be further away from the sneaking and hiding of Hideo Kojima's s...
