It’s not all bad by any means; the combat has a lot of shine to it when it works, and the different weapons and build options all offer some nice changes. However, the reliance on ranged weapons in a game that makes them feel incredibly limited is perplexing. It just isn’t where it needs to be right now. I have faith that Hyper Light Breaker will evolve into a game that’s a huge amount of fun to play with friends, but for now, it’s one that just doesn’t mesh properly.
Breachway is an excellent take on the roguelike deckbuilding that takes us to Tim Curry’s favorite place and then adds in plenty of cool decisions and a really in-depth battle system for one of the coolest games in this genre I’ve played in ages. If it isn’t clear in this review hasn’t made it obvious enough, just go ahead and play Breachway, because you won’t be disappointed.
Earth Defense 6 has fantastic map variety, better-looking levels, and a story that actually had me hooked. I didn’t keep playing because I wanted a bigger boom, I genuinely wanted to find out what happened next. I’ve always been a fan of the EDF games, but this is the first one that I’m 100% happy to recommend without any weird disclaimers. If you’ve ever been even slightly curious about the series, then now’s the time to sign up and help fight back the alien menace. If you’re a fan of EDF 5, then you’ll get more joy out of this than I could possibly express without spoiling things. Just go get it.
A staggering improvement upon a solid foundation, Remnant 2 is an engrossing Soulslike that brings all the horror and joy of alien world exploration to wonderfully dark fruition.

Astral Chain is an exceptionally fun game when it’s embracing its anime core and is channelling the pure absurdity of the over-the-top action, but is let down by some poor camera angles, bad pacing decisions and a predictable story.
