The multiplayer is spectacular with large unbelievable battles that last a whole game and it will leave you wanting more. With bullet and physics mechanics that shape the battle it has the most amount of realism whilst still remaining a fun and immersive game. A masterpiece that will not cease to amaze.

Battlefield 4 was a rushed and unprepared game, which is very disappointing.

Battlefield 4 on Xbox 360 is a fitting advert for the very real need for a new generation of consoles; developers' ambitions are being restricted by, at this point, frankly antiquated hardware. Visually, it's an eyesore, with overblown lighting effects illuminating the game's plentiful issues with aliasing, screen-tearing and low-resolution textures.

Almost every event that you're a part of in Battlefield 4 is punctuated by some sort of demolition or explosion. Pursued by a helicopter? It'll blow up sooner or later. Running up a flight of stairs? They probably won't be there on the way back down. Need to get past an armoured vehicle? Better blast it to bits. And that's basically the franchise's newest entry in a nutshell – it's a bit bigger, and slightly bolder – but is that really enough to warrant a sequel so soon after Battlefield 3?

If there’s one thing that the upcoming generation of consoles is unleashing on us as an industry, it’s this whole cross-generational development malarkey. You know, one game on four consoles, across two generations. For us as reviewers it means playing four versions simultaneously – not exactly at the same time, because that would be ludicrous! – which ultimately means that a.) it takes us twice as long to review a game; and b.) the next-gen versions are going to make the last-gen ver...

Battlefield 4's campaign is a sluggish addition that might delight those looking for heavy action without any sense of direction. But the multiplayer is an absolute delight. It's outstanding and definitely the primary reason for playing it.

Here we are at the dawn of the next generation of console gaming. While the gaming community is busy salivating at screenshots and videos of what they can expect over the next few months we still have developers absolutely pushing the limits of the current generation to their maximum. Their attempts are valiant ones I’m sure but you can’t help noticing the limitations in the current gen build of Battlefield 4. It’s pretty, sure, but the cracks are there and they hold back BF4 from being a much better title.

With more maps that support more playstyles, more modes, and necessary bug fixes, Battlefield 4 - like its predecessor - will go from good to great. At the moment, it doesn't do as much for players as Battlefield 3 does with its current set of offerings but it's only going to get bigger and better as time goes on.

Battlefield 4 sends off the current generation of shooters in prime form. There's prowess across the board, from narrative to action, and technical hiccups can't derail a game that is simply great on PS3.

The console versions of Battlefield 4 are held back on the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3, but are still a hell of a lot of fun to play. If you’re looking for a great online shooter experience, Battlefield 4 is a can’t miss for 2013.

As someone who originally enlisted in Battlefield 1942, tracking the series' trajectory has been interesting. What originally started as a multiplayer-only hardcore PC shooter has steadily evolved over the last decade to achieve mass success. Along the way, developer DICE has built on its solid foundation of team-focused air, land, and sea battles with impressive new features like destructible environments and deeper progression systems. At the same time, the studio has struggled to branch out with engrossing cooperative or single-player experiences. As if acting off muscle memory, Battlefield 4 follows this same pattern, with another strong dose of large-scale multiplayer...
