Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

I’m only saddened by the fact that this is the only expansion Cyberpunk 2077 is receiving. But I’m glad the studio has gone all out with it, incorporating so much feedback over the years to make the very game we’ve dreamt about. Whatever lies next for CDPR, well, that’s something only the studio knows for sure, but whatever it is, I hope they’ll take the lessons they’ve learned to heart with Cyberpunk 2077 because if they do, they’re looking at a bright future.

Phantom Liberty is a strong expansion to the base game, and a reminder that, despite the rough start, the Cyberpunk 2077 universe is one I'd love to see further expanded in the future.

Ultimately, whether or not you should pick up Phantom Liberty depends on whether you want to immerse yourself in yet another engaging Cyberpunk story, this time with more of an espionage tinge. You certainly get a lot of bang for your buck here; completing everything that’s on offer will surely take a significant amount of time, and there are rewards and additional items that you can carry over to the main game. But even if you don’t pick up Phantom Liberty straight away, it’s worth jumping into Cyberpunk 2077 if you haven’t already done so thanks to the changes introduced via update 2.0. And ...

Phantom Liberty is the definitive version of Cyberpunk 2077, and while not perfect, gives a thousand and one reasons to return to the game.

Phantom Liberty is what Cyberpunk 2077 should have been three years ago. It's an incredible expansion that boasts a gripping story, compelling characters, engaging moment-to-moment gameplay, and significantly improved progression mechanics. It's so good that it uplifts all of Cyberpunk 2077, finally making good on the lofty promises CD Projekt RED made for the base game all those years ago.

From its breathless opening hours to its twisting narrative, Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty would be worth the price of admission for its plot and characters alone.

Cyberpunk 2077 had an unfortunate launch and as a result there are many who have written off a game that should have been remembered as being one of the top games of 2020. It's a shame because with all the patches, fixes and updates, the game seems to be running how it should have at launch. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty delivers a massive amount of new content which is at the same high level of quality. A great follow-up to Cyberpunk 2077 with a stellar cast that brings a thrilling story to the streets of Dogtown. The gameplay changes bring it up to a better standard, but if you are not a fan of the original, don’t expect Phantom Liberty to change your mind.

Phantom Liberty brings a high-quality new storyline to Cyberpunk 2077, even if its new area "Dogtown" is lacking in size somewhat. Coupled with the 2.0 Update, Phantom Liberty brings the Cyberpunk 2077 redemption tale full circle. If you've waited to play Cyberpunk 2077 at its best, you needn't wait any longer.

Phantom Liberty has some great moments, but it’s ultimately a by-the-numbers spy thriller with an uninteresting cast that can’t be saved by celebrity star power.
