Like a lot of kids growing up, I wanted to go to Disneyland. I don’t know exactly why but it just seemed like that’s what all the other kids did during their summer holidays and I felt I was missing out. While I didn’t get to go as a kid, I did go to Disney World on my honeymoon and I finally got to see what the hype was about. It was truly a magical place for everyone including kids and adults. When I was asked to review Disney Universe, I readily agreed knowing that the same care they put into their parks, movies, and everything else would likely be the same approach with the game as well....
Ultimately, Disney Universe constitutes the ideal family game. It's quick and simple, but has charm, character and inventive little puzzles galore.
Disney Universe is a worthwhile investment if you’re looking to introduce a child in your life to a more robust variety of game beyond the “my first video game”-type titles that essentially play themselves. Disney Universe provides an experience that can be enjoyed both solo and locally with co-op, so you’ll have options. Plus, the game comes with reasons to revisit stages and collectibles to keep you coming back for more. Disney Universe has its problems, but it’s a solid title bound to please its intended audience.
The team at Eurocom has done a fine job crafting a surprisingly engaging objective-based adventure with Disney Universe, lifting several ideas from the LEGO games of recent years while mixing in a smattering of fresh concepts and a hearty four-player option
This leads to much hilarity as you “accidently” whack one of your friends so they miss a collectible, or pick them up and chuck them off a ledge (although that one is harder to explain away). It gets a bit frantic at times, but there is so much fun to be had you almost forget about the familiarity of the level structure.
Here at X360A it's no secret that we are all massive Disney fans, so much so that Webb can barely be parted for his massive plush toy collection for too long without suffering from the sniffles.
