Gotham City Impostors

Gotham City: the home of Batman, along with thousands of denizens who either look to the skies for the caped crusader when in need, or faithfully follow his crazed evil nemesis, the Joker. But there’s also the demented wannabes that will do anything to try and gain their 15 minutes of fame and Gotham City Impostors shoves the iconic characters to the wayside and gives these idiots exactly what they deserve: more guns, ammo and gadgets than you can throw a Batarang at and turns them loose on each other to dispose of themselves.

Gotham City Impostors is not bat bad; it’s actually quite good. But its dire intention of being as balanced as possible only makes it seem shallower in the end. It’s rather ironic that it’s built on customization, when everything ends up feeling like the same thing. It’s therefore that its other flaws, like its dreadful online stability, become more apparent and carry more weight than they should. It could’ve been better, but that doesn’t mean it should be overlooked. There’s still a fun, quirky little shooter in there to pass some time.

Gotham City Impostors is a functional shooter with a sense of humor and a Batman license. It's got plenty to unlock, but it's not all that deep. Go, shoot, win. Over and over. If you're looking for a first-person shooter that doesn't take itself seriously, have at it, but don't expect a FPS revolution.

A good idea with some unfortunate but devastating missteps, Gotham City Impostors still has enough time to avoid the custard pie flying at its head.
