Despite my misgivings of the LEGO franchise, there’s no denying their success and popularity. It may reuse an age-old template, but it’s one that works and that never fails to bring some kind of enjoyment, no matter your age or gaming preferences. Anybody can pick up and play a LEGO game, and that’s part of the reason people keep coming back to them, time after time. As always, there’s plenty of gameplay – upwards of 40 hours if you’re looking for true completion – so you can be sure you’ll get your money’s worth. If you’re a fan of Marvel, and not yet tired of the LEGO game formula, then LEGO...

In conclusion, this another Traveller's Tales LEGO game, with all the baggage that entails. As an example of the breed, it's a very good one, but the age of the model is now starting to show and some sort of revolution (rather than a gradual evolution) must now be overdue. However, given the strength of the source material of these films, it makes a very decent fist of being a good game, as opposed to just being one of the better LEGO games.

If you like the LEGO game formula, you have a preference for playing solo and you’re a huge fan of MCU, there’s still a lot of value for you in LEGO Marvel’s Avengers, even despite a disjointed plot and annoying audio mixes. If you haven’t played any of the others and you’re thinking about picking up this one, I’d advise starting with just about any other game instead. This the weakest LEGO game I’ve played thus far, and had me missing games like LEGO Marvel Super Heroes and LEGO Dimensions. [Note: Former IGN editor Greg Miller contributed to the making of this game. To ensure impartiality, ...

Lego Marvel Avengers is cute fun with a familiar concept. Buy it for your kids if they want it, but don't break the bank for this iterative entry.

Does your kid constantly go on about Chris Hemsworth and Robert Downey Jr. while they run around the room in their Hawkeye outfit? Pick up LEGO Marvel’s Avengers and add it to the massive pile of LEGO games you likely already have. It’s a fun mindless romp through a couple of interesting setpieces, but not a whole lot more than that when it comes down to it.

Focusing on the movies rather than the comics has seen Marvel go from inspiring the best Lego game to one of the worst.

Jan 29, 2016 Read Review

Lego Marvel's Avengers is often fun to watch, and some of the Lego magic is there. The humor and goofiness keep things moving when the rest of the game threatens to grind to a halt. But not even Lego charm can overcome all of Lego Marvel's Avengers' design and technical problems.

Feb 11, 2016 Read Review

There’s loads to do in Lego Marvel Avengers, but only when you’ve found it. And of course the animation is well done, the ridiculous amount to collect relatively compelling, and if your kid 100%ed Marvel Super Heroes, then this will likely give them a new fix. But it’s a despondent entry in a series that perhaps TT are finally beginning to grow tired of making. For once we don’t know what three others they’re currently working on, but I rather hope the opportunity is being taken to sit back and ponder whether there would be more to gain from a new approach to the games, or at least a return to...
