MULLET MADJACK turns a 10-second timer into a frantic FPS roguelite built on stylish kills and retro anime excess. If you love score chasing and aggressive movement, this is 2024's easiest indie shooter to recommend.
Its over-the-top approach to almost everything it offers you can feel overwhelming, but there's no denying just how fun it is to play! Dashing through stages that last mere moments is such a blast that I had a hard time putting down my Switch. It's a breath of fresh air to play a game that has something to say, but presents it in a style that we almost never see or hear anymore. Mullet MadJack is a wild ride and one that almost every FPS fan should play.
Mullet Mad Jack is a blistering, balls-to-the-wall throwback to 90s anime and violent, dystopian sci-fi that marries boomer shooters with speedrunning and roguelike aspirations to form an absolutely intoxicating brew. It's short, and there's not much to keep you invested even with infinite floors to climb, but you'll be having a good fucking time while you're in it.
MULLET MADJACK is more than worth your time and money, a perfect culmination of artistic vision.
One part Hotline Miami, one part Duke Nukem, Mullet MadJack is an uncompromising and beautifully straight-up shot of first-person shooter adrenaline with a neat roguelike twist, all fed into your brain one frenetic minute at a time.
Mullet Madjack's retro-futuristic aesthetic that mixes anime and action movies together to create an exciting backdrop for a speedrunning boomer shooter that is filled with non-stop action.
Mullet Mad Jack is an incredible fast-paced FPS that feels nearly perfect on the Steam Deck.
Mullet Mad Jack is a hyper stylized shooter with a lot under the hood. The simple yet addicting gameplay loop is more than enough to keep players engaged for the long term.
Mullet MadJack excites not just as an excellent shooter with its insanely intense and surprisingly vast array of moment-to-moment possibilities, but also as a sign of the maximalist, short-form future.
Mullet Madjack is a breath of fresh air that delivers one of the most refreshing shooters I’ve played in the past few years.
Inviting you to be the star of a vintage anime, Mullet Mad Jack is a fast-paced first-person shooter with roguelike elements that's basic at its core but still manages to be captivating — partly because of its impeccable presentation, and partly because it's simply so much fun to play.
I feel I need to learn not to underestimate a genre just because of its sheer market saturation. Right at the beginning of the year, I was complaining about the excessive amount of roguelikes out in the market, and how they weren’t pushing the genre or the industry forward in any meaningful way. The result of my incredible short-sightedness? Balatro dropped like a nuke, Dicefolk proved that deckbuilders still had potential, Hades II surpassed all expectations… and now we have Mullet MadJa...
Combining elements from Ghostrunner and Bulletstorm in a 90s-anime inspired package, slaying robobillionaires is a blast in Mullet MadJack -- though, it is a bit short.
Mullet Mad Jack is a no-nonsense FPS that's super stylish and a lot of fun in short bursts.
