One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is an excellent Musou game that any One Piece fan will instantly fall in love with. Although the game can be daunting for newcomers and the camera can be tricky at times, it's hard not to appreciate the incredible work Omega Force has done implementing over 60 characters and a great variety of modes.

One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 blends the musou gameplay of the Warriors games well with the world of One Piece. I do wish there was more of the story to offer fans of the series, but the game feels nice to play.

When the issues of a game are rolled and stomped by its greatness, then it’s something to invest on if you have some spare.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 introduces some great fighting mechanics, overhauled systems from previous iterations, and smoother and more rewarding gameplay to the franchise. While it doesn’t do anything new to uplift the Musou genre of games, it’s a good game to pick up and beat the crap out of pirates as Luffy tries to become the king of the pirates.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is a Dynasty Warriors-style musou game based on the popular One Piece manga and anime. The first two Pirate Warriors games were for the PS3, and the third for the PS4. All three games came out between 2012 and 2015. It’s now been 5 years since the third game. Those five years have given us a few more characters, two more story arcs, and very refined combat. So maybe not five years-worth of content, but the most content the series has to offer, which was already staggering.

I haven’t played many One Piece games before, but Pirate Warriors 4 has set my sights on the series. For those getting into One Piece now, this title is a fantastic introductory that sets a high standard for future entries to come.

One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 is a great installation in the Pirate Warriors series and feels like a love letter to fans of the franchise. While the Musou style combat can feel extremely repetitive, it’s also quite satisfying and fun to mess around with. The story is exciting and does a good job at capturing the sense of adventure from the anime, even though we have seen many of these stories before. Bandai Namco’s action-adventure franchise is at its best with One Piece Pirate Warriors 4.

Treasure Log consists of various extra episodes that allow you to play as any character that you’ve unlocked. These are often based around “what-if” scenarios, which let characters that would normally never meet interact with one another. This leads to some fun and fanservice-stuffed dialogues, which is a fun little addition to an already enjoyable mode. I’m excited to see if they add extra Treasure Logs in through DLC, as new playable characters could provide plenty of new opportunities for side-stories.

It has a terrific roster of characters that are brought to life like never before, its story is ridiculously entertaining, there’s plenty of content, and the action has been tweaked in ways that make it feel surprisingly fresh. Whether you’re a fan of Warriors games or One Piece, One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 is easy to recommend.

It’s still a tough sell to a non-One Piece fan, but as someone who absolutely loves One Piece and was only just sort of into Musou games, I found a ton to like in Pirate Warriors 4.
