To start the game off, you receive a call from Hope. She’s in desperate need of help. She explains that ‘they want to erase her’, but before anything else can be said she is interrupted by a couple of guards who walk in. Here, we get a bit more insight on where she really is. The camera changes from a phone view to a camera on the wall view and we see her surroundings a bit better. She’s being interrogated by two guards (obviously bad guys due to the heavy French accents) who scold her for reading something she shouldn’t have.
Paranoid, but not an android.
Overall, however, Republique is a very solid game built around a strong initial premise. The title knows its limits and instead focuses on delivering a tightly-wound stealth game with an interesting story and mechanics. Those after more direct control may find the game frustrating, but Republique is a game that just begs to be played.
Republique Remastered is an effective, modern point-and-click adventure, and one of the few good mobile-to-PC upconverts. The controls and gameplay take some time to get used to. But it's well worth it to explore the lovingly realized world of conspiracy and paranoia.

The visuals are pretty damn good and the sound design even better, especially the experienced and highly recognisable voice cast, and most importantly it feels like a PC title rather than an iOS port. République is a competent stealth game that leaves plenty of room for improvement. While it weaves a number of intriguing plot threads into an interesting story full of socio-political motifs, it’s ultimately an uneven ride that could have done a better job conveying its ideas.
Republique first surfaced as an iOS game and the mechanics involved in this new PS4 version seem like the developer did a straight port, rather than take the time to sharpen anything other than the graphics.
