Screencheat is highly recommended and will provide hours and hours of multiplayer fun. The matches might start off basic, but you’ll be itching to unlock more and more content to dial the crazy factor up to 11. This is a great concept with smooth gameplay that culminates in really enjoyable multiplayer pandemonium, although the lack of online play in this Switch version (the 'Unplugged' of the title), does limit things to local-only multiplayer, unfortunately.

Regardless of foibles, there is a ton of entertainment value to be found in the wacky shooter that is Screencheat. Looking at an opponent’s screen and trying to collect that kill with a weird weapon, while another player might be doing the same, is exhilarating. It’s so simple yet genius. Moreover, some clever refinement in multiple design facets solidify that this is more than just a silly venture. There’s a potent game to be mastered behind the humorous veil as well.

Relatively simplistic compared to the N64-era shooters that inspired it, Screencheat nevertheless distinguishes itself with goofy charm, fast pacing, and a clever gameplay hook based on invisibility. Its sterile online matches tend to wear out their welcome quickly, but if you can get two to four players together in a room, hunting your friends through their own eyes is uniquely fun for at least a short while.

Unique, accessible, and hilarious to play with friends, Screencheat comes together nicely in one neat little package. It’s a chaotically nostalgic trip down memory lane and one that Samurai Punk has fleshed out nicely with a range of systems that shooter fans will be comfortable with. That said, it’s tenure over the sitting room may be short-lived. Although fun in small bursts, it doesn’t have quite the same staying power or online community that other games enjoy.

Every time you boot up Screencheat, the PlayStation 4 debut from Australian indie studio Samurai Punk, you're treated to the following informative phrase: "Screencheat: The splitscreen shooter where everyone is invisible so you have to screencheat." This is, for better or worse, the entire game summed up in twelve words.
