After two decades of advancements and innovation, Battlefront I and II still offer some of the most enjoyable gameplay in the shooter genre. Rich in content, new and old, the Classic Collection successfully brings two fan-favourite Star Wars games onto today’s hardware. The absence of a few modern creature comforts is disappointing, but it does little to weigh down an otherwise brilliant bundle.

Despite this being a disappointing re-release of beloved classics, I still had an enjoyable trip down memory lane playing the single-player content. That said, the minimal improvements aren’t enough to recommend at the current price.

While we'd hoped for better things from Aspyr's remastered Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection, this is nonetheless an adequate way to revisit a couple of shooter greats from a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. I mean the mid 2000s. No doubt further patches (there's already been a significant one) will improve things somewhat.

Aspyr Media's remastered collection does too little to keep the first two Battlefront games relevant for modern audiences.

Given that both games are available separately on Steam for a lower price than this collection, it’s hard to justify purchasing this package instead of the sufficient original versions. Multiplayer being subpar means it’s robbed of its main selling point at the moment, barring a potential forthcoming update. As such, the primary benefit of grabbing this collection is simply playing single-player modes on a console rather than a computer. I enjoyed it for this purpose, but I can’t help but feel a bit disappointed at how lackluster any additions or tune-ups in this collection seem to be.

Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is a reminder of how great these games were at the time they released, but it ultimately fails to do anything better for the players than the original releases did. As much as it breaks my heart, I find it hard to recommend this game to anyone in its current state.

The Star Wars: Battlefront franchise has been through the wringer for almost two decades. Not only have we been denied a Star Wars Battlefront III twice, but fans have also had to live through genuinely rough launches. Unfortunately, Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection is yet another rough launch. What should have been an easy win on paper is regrettably hampered by technical issues, of-the-era design decisions that impact the experience today and a lack of significant updates. Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection is a straight-up port whose simplicity would be charming if not for the technical issues or the wide...

When highly regarded games see a remaster, the quality tends to fluctuate between two extremes. You have the disastrous launches akin to Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - Definitive Edition, or you get the lovingly crafted, impressive remasters like we saw with Quake and Quake 2. Aspyr has been working its way through the back catalog of classic Star Wars titles from the IP’s gaming golden age, and the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is the latest of such releases. And unfortunately, this re-release is more GTA than Quake.

Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection revives two beloved multiplayer experiences for modern consoles. While both keep the gameplay feel and flow, this release is plagued with serious online issues that make this collection hard to recommend. The single-player content is exceptional and justifiable for purchase, but overall, the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection feels incomplete and messy.

Since the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection includes two games that were originally released in the early 2000s, a plethora of Star Wars content has since been released that renders the campaigns of these games obsolete. While it doesn’t decrease the level of gameplay enjoyment, it does make it harder to become engrossed in the stories when they contradict what has since become part of the Star Wars canon. For example, Battlefront II's campaign focuses on the rise of Darth Vader’s elite 501st legion of Clone Troopers and insinuates that the clones knew all along that they would betray the...

On Xbox, there was always going to be some serious debate about whether fans should consider checking out the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection. If you’re not in it for online play, and only want to participate in solo play and local multiplayer (or you simply want the original experience), we would argue the affordably priced backward compatibility versions are still more than enough. If you are really eager to relive the online battles of yesteryear on an even bigger scale though, the Classic Collection is the (only) way, so hopefully Apsyr can overcome these launch issues.

STAR WARS: Battlefront Classic Collection is an echo of the past with some of the benefits of being in the modern era. IT would have been nice to have some extra content like behind-the-scenes footage or concept art as part of the larger collection.

Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection is a rather underwhelming package. It adds little to two already fantastic games, but what little improvements it does add (like upscaled textures and support for modern hardware) are nice to have.

Star Wars Battlefront: Classic Collection is the definitive way to play the best games in the Battlefront series, and they are great on the Steam Deck!

After hours and hours spent in this remastered release, my only complaint is that I don't have time to play it non-stop for the next week.

An excellent remaster duology that’s an interesting reminder of early online console gaming and one of the most feature-packed Star Wars games ever made.

Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection is the perfect way to relive one of the best Star Wars video game franchises. These games may be old, but that doesn’t stop new and old players alike from jumping into a galaxy far, far away for the time of their lives.

Just like many Star Wars fans throughout the world, I have mixed feelings towards EA’s take on the Battlefront games. On one hand, sure, they looked great, and that one VR mode available on the first game was excellent, but on the other, it seems like they have decided to use those two games as testing grounds for the stupidest and dirtiest business practices back in the day, be it charging $60 for no single player content, or the infamous loot box scandals seen in Battlefront II. To this d...

Making these games accessible on modern systems is great, sure. Making them accessible by modern standards would have been better. The Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is a delightful and painful romp through old stomping grounds that will likely lose its short-lived luster in a matter of weeks. The good old days are not as good as they seem. It’s time to let the past die. Kill it if we have to.
