Even though certain design elements aren’t as streamlined, fleshed-out, or user-friendly as they could have been, part of me is just thankful Birthdays even got greenlit. Niche as it might be, I’ve wanted something like this for years, and despite my admittedly high expectations, I still came away impressed. I...

It’s a testament to Statik‘s inventive puzzle design and clever complementary use of the DualShock 4 and PlayStation VR that even though I didn’t care much for its story or aesthetic, it still won me over big time. If you’re a PlayStation VR owner, you owe it to yourself to look...

While a few of the levels feel mechanically underdeveloped or otherwise don’t quite reach their full potential, these lesser puzzles tend to make up for their shortcomings with a strong audio-visual theme or an entertaining premise. And although GNOG is brief enough to be a single-sitting game, that length feels...

All told, Shiness is an uneven adventure, but one I’m glad I undertook. While it’s too ambitious for its own good, deep down, and despite some hard-to-overlook faults, you can just sense that this was a passion project. I’m not sure if Enigami will get to make a sequel, but...

There’s hope for Drawn to Death to grow into something more, and my fingers are crossed that it does. After not quite a week, I’ve just about had my fill and don’t feel compelled to stick around for cosmetic unlocks earned from drawn-out blind boxes. With new modes and characters,...

Whether it’s worth playing at that price depends on how into Psychonauts you are and/or how desperate you are for a delightful, well-crafted PSVR game. I’ll say this much: as someone who is by no means a superfan, Rhombus of Ruin left me feeling proper excited for Psychonauts 2.

Aside from from the local-only consideration and some inconsistencies with the scoring criteria and stage layouts, man, what a game. Overcooked is the best co-op experience I’ve had in recent memory, and despite going back through to fully clear every level, I wish there were more. Don’t overlook it.

But for as uneven as that specific slice of Dead Rising 2 can be, the rest of the experience shines, even today. It’s one of those games that pays back the time you invest into it at least double fold. Returning players won’t find anything substantially new in this remaster...

It might be a case of sky-high expectations, but this sequel doesn’t live up to its sublime predecessor Pac-Man Championship Edition DX+. Still, I’m not so sure it ever could — that game was damn near perfect, putting Bandai Namco in a tough spot when creating a follow-up. Pac-Man Championship...

And that’s why they call it Death Road to Canada. It can be too harsh for its own good, and folks who are tired of roguelikes will struggle to embrace that part of the design, but it’s still one of the better road-trip games I’ve played thanks to its cheerful...

Some of the boss designs feel uneven or underdeveloped, and the dialogue misses about as often as it lands, but when Furi is good, it’s real good. I am surprised by how well its fusion of action and shooting works. Just make sure you have the patience necessary see the...

It’s just a shame there isn’t way more game here. If this truly is the start of a franchise, I’d potentially be up for more titles, but I can’t deny how much this sparse pilot entry leaves me wanting.
