TopSpin 2K25 is a decent return to form for the franchise, especially when you stick to the more casual side of things. Trying to get better at the game, however, can be fraught with frustration owing to its control scheme. Ultimately, there’s still a fun career mode to dive into with plenty of content for tennis fans.

Despite its rather simple combat system, Broken Roads is a fantastic new entry in the RPG genre. It offers up a fresh take on morality systems with its use of a moral compass, and the game’s setting alone does an incredible amount of heavy lifting in keeping things interesting.

It’s a great thing that Open Roads is an incredibly short experience, because when it comes to actually playing it, there just isn’t much there. Thankfully, its story and characters do more than enough to make experiencing Open Roads worthwhile, at least once.

While WWE 2K24’s attempts at celebrating 40 years of WrestleMania with its new Showcase of the Immortals mode fall flat, the game’s excellent match types and the great new storylines in the MyRise mode will ensure that fans will have plenty to sink their teeth into.

Realms of Ruin features a fun campaign that showcases four unique factions. Unfortunately, when it comes to gameplay, there just isn’t enough depth to allow for more tactical and strategic options.

Lords of the Fallen
8.0

Lords of the Fallen is an interesting new take on the Soulslike genre. While it isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel with fresh new ideas, it instead acts as more of an evolution of the genre, refining ideas and concepts that have been tried and tested by other games. The game features excellent combat and fun exploration, which thankfully are more than enough to detract from its dull storytelling.

Witchfire is a game rife with potential that will hopefully be realized throughout its stint in early access. It has an addictive gameplay loop that makes you attempt at least “one more run” thanks to its fast-paced melding of first-person gunplay and magic. The only real downside right now is the relative lack of content.

Jagged Alliance 3 successfully taps into everything that made the franchise great to begin with, giving us a unique blend of genres that mixes turn-based tactical gameplay with some light RPG elements.

Trepang2 doesn’t really care about its setting and story. Instead, it just wants to give you some guns, the ability to slow down time, and just set you loose on some corrupt corporations and a shady cult. It features fantastic gunplay and some excellent enemy AI to play around with, and despite the visual clutter, you’ll quite likely find yourself having a good time.

Despite its focus on co-op, The Outlast Trials presents a strong early showing through its early access release. It runs well, has an interesting setting and story, and the co-op can be incredibly fun if you play it with the right group. The only downside is that jump scares might not be everyone’s cup of tea.
