Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is easily my favourite game of the series for now. Yes, it's too short and has technical issues but from beginning to end I was highly entertained.
Being one of the most famous animated TV shows of recent times, the Adventure Time series received several video game adaptations which are, for the most part, pretty much hit and miss. A true shame, considering some of the series' staples such as its humorous tone and its "adventuring" theme. After years of suffering, Adventure Time fans now have the game they deserve, Adventure Time: Pirates of ...
Taking between five and six hours to complete the main story, Pirates of the Enchiridion isn’t the longest game you’re going to play this year. It’s not even the most original, or most engaging. But it has charm, fun, and character in droves. If you’re looking for something a little more laid-back that’s likely to put a smile on your face, then you can’t go far wrong with Adventure Time: Pirates o...
Adventure Time has been a juggernaut series for Cartoon Network since debuting way back in 2010. Its 10-season run is about to come to an end, and over this span the escapades of Finn the Human and Jake the Dog have spawned six video game entries covering a wide variety of genres. The latest entry, Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion, sees Finn and Jake tackle the classic turn-based RPG for...
The prospect of exploring the cartoon apocalypse of Adventure Time’s Ooo in a video game is incredibly enticing. Pirates of the Enchiridion turns Ooo into a world where you can go off and explore in any direction at nearly any time, which is what I want from a game taking advantage of the Adventure Time license, but it fails to deliver an engaging adventure within that framework. Covering the worl...
High seas RPG Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion brings some of the joy of the TV show to a kind-of open world RPG. It’s a good game for beginners, and we get a small taste of how great exploring the show’s world and quirky characters could be. but the lack of challenge and options will probably bore veterans. The sad thing is that Adventure Time is a special show because its humor appeals...
All in all, Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion is merely okay. There is little new here, but it’s functional enough that fans of the series will find much to enjoy as they explore the land of Ooo. It is difficult to recommend to those less enamoured with the source material, however. There is an easy platinum to collect if that is your kind of thing, but the combination of overly faithful ...
Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion might be appealing to a younger audience that wants an RPG without too many advance systems to over-complicate things, but if you’re looking for a deep role-playing game set within the land of Ooo, you’ll be sorely disappointed. On top of that, all of the performance issues with the Switch version make it incredibly difficult to recommend.
Adventure Time: Pirates of the Enchiridion looks pretty good on paper. Open world RPG, fast-paced turn-based battles, searching for hidden clues and interrogating baddies, all while sailing the new seas of Ooo while singing sea shanties. All of that, attached to the Adventure Time license, what could go wrong? The answer is, put simply, a lot. But let’s start at the beginning.
