Animal Crossing New Horizons  is the best game that could have launched during this pandemic being so family friendly and compelling to all ages and personalities. Nintendo have delivered a jam packed adventure that is for the most fanatical player or someone who is new to this colorful series. Where Nintendo still have work to do is in the record keeping and planting side of the game while also letting the player learn more of their experience in the game itself. Without a doubt this is h...

A few weeks ago, we took a dive into the first week on our brand new island in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. While it may have only been the first week, there was a ton to take a look at. That said, a month after release, there has been a ton more to look at. It’s time to take a proper look at Animal Crossing: New Horizons and explore everything the game has to offer at this point.

It's an exceptional game, with few faults to speak of, and players who have even the slightest inkling of interest should check it out as soon as possible.

Animal Crossing has always been a series where every little thing leads to something productive. Doing nothing and staring off into the sky is relaxing, decorating houses is fun and catching critters feels rewarding. There's never been a real “point” to Animal Crossing but that's what makes it enjoyable, as every person can enjoy and do what they like at their own pace. New Horizons nails this feeling more than ever, with so many options and lots of things to collect and enjoy. While it's easy to play in short bursts, it's often hard to stop playing when ideas keep...

With its numerous quality-of-life improvements and additions, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is a big step forward for the series and found its perfect destination on the Switch. Especially given the current circumstances that we’re all facing right now in the world, it may have been unintentional that such a peaceful, idyllic game would arrive in the midst of so much fear, uncertainty, and stress. But thankfully, it’s nice to have a small, peaceful little place to escape to right now, and I can’t wait to keep coming back to it when I need it most.

It's the best Animal Crossing yet, with the best visuals, unparalleled customization, wonderful villagers, and so much content that it isn't even funny. Animal Crossing: New Horizons is Nintendo at its best.

After seven years of waiting, the newest entry in the series takes natural steps forward in ways I didn’t know were needed and with very few shortcomings. At the time, New Leaf felt like the definitive Animal Crossing experience, yet New Horizons somehow managed to prove that wrong.

Animal Crossing is one of those series that’s hard to describe. I mean, it’s a game that consists of wandering around a small map while collecting fish and bugs to pay off your home loan. Trying to explain why it’s so fun to others can be hard. Animal Crossing is just… a little bit of everything. A bit of exploring, a bit of fishing, a bit of life simulation, and a lot of home design. But all those little bits fit into something beautiful, with ongoing entertainment that lasts months,...

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is easily the best Animal Crossing game to date. This life simulator is the most immersive, feature-filled, and customizable to date, having exponentially amplified all the charm and addicting qualities of New Leaf. A must have for any fan of the series, or anyone who simply needs a distraction from the current state of the real world.

It is 6 AM on a Sunday morning. Despite being in self-isolation as a result of a global pandemic, I am awake. I have no real reason to be, as time now feels like an abstract concept, but Animal Crossing: New Horizons is waiting. I get up, I turn on my Switch, and I go to my island. I fish for an hour. I pick up the weeds. I talk to the overly energetic horse who lives next door to me, who gifts me a park bench. It is exactly what I need.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is an incredible experience and is, without a doubt, my favorite in the whole series. The formula is familiar for returning fans, yet still manages to feel like an enormous breath of fresh air. It truly is a distinctive, positive, and rewarding simulation that lets you become fully immersed in a fun, colorful, stress-free environment. While it still has its confusing moments, especially for new players, Animal Crossing: New Horizons was definitely worth the seven-year wait and is better than I could have ever hoped for.

Of course, it's hard to review a title like this because of how ongoing it feels. It's Animal Crossing, plain and simple, but the best it has ever been. Thankfully, Nintendo plans to extend the game's legs with patched-in holiday events throughout the year -- simultaneously solving the famous "time travel" exploit and adding a bit of detriment to those who choose to use it anyway (seriously, it's awesome Nintendo left it in).

There has never been a better time for a new Animal Crossing game to arrive. It cannot fix what’s going on in the world right now, but Animal Crossing: New Horizons gives us the joyful, meditative escape that so many of us desperately need right now. Whether you’re young or old, you’ll find something to like. What isn’t to love about customising your dream island and being able to sit on a bench by the beach, listening to the waves, just because you can? Nothing I can think of, that’s for sure.

If your Switch has been sitting in the corner collecting dust since the last big Nintendo release, and you want something to sink your teeth into, I highly recommend picking up Animal Crossing: New Horizons and getting lost in the beautiful – if not sometimes menial – work that Tom Nook has waiting for you.

The multiplayer aspect of the game — which allows you to visit your friends’ islands or for them to come to yours — is enjoyable, but I don’t see myself using it more than occasionally. It’s definitely worth seeing your pals’ creations, but it’s not the best way to add to your pool of resources. If you’re looking to stock up on new materials or non-native fruits, you’re better off heading to the airport to explore a randomly generated mystery island instead.

Honestly, 18 days is far too little time to generate a comprehensive assessment of Animal Crossing: New Horizons. There is still much I don’t know about this game, including how in-game purchases will ultimately be incorporated. But based on what I have been able to experience, it’s what I’ve wanted Animal Crossing to be for many years. While it fumbles its camping-inspired opening, New Horizons makes a nice recovery with a strong focus on player accomplishment, creating a potent sense of achievement in this idyllic piece of escapism.

Animal Crossing: New Horizons is everything I hoped it would be, and it's yet another stellar release that showcases a confident Nintendo at its best. It is excellent, and is easily another must-own Switch title - at least, if you can understand and embrace Animal Crossing's uniquely lazy pace.

The Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, and Super Mario each found new life on the Nintendo Switch, and following those games in kind is Animal Crossing: New Horizons: An expanded, polished, next-generation reboot of a classic Nintendo game. Perhaps most importantly, like Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is full of surprises. I cannot wait to see what's to come: Seeing cool custom islands from the community, special events, season changes. It took too long to get to the most exciting part of my island renovation (until I cheated), but now that all of New...
