Professional reviews from gaming critics

I had heard a TON about glitches in this game. I put in over 40 hours and very VERY rarely had any issues. I did play on ps3 and the only time I had to shut my game off is when I got glitched in a tree. Other then that only minor issues that got fixed when I switched zones.

Assassin's Creed III is very enjoyable overall, but it’s not consistently brilliant. Not everything about the game gels together convincingly and the missions’ unnecessary prescriptiveness sometimes undermines the sense of freedom that the rest of the game works so hard to create. But it achieves so much that you can’t help but respect it; no other open-world game has ever given us a setting that'...

Assassin's Creed III builds strongly on the series but fails to take a giant leap of faith into any real new territory. A new plot, the Colonial America setting, and sheer volume of things to do outweigh the disappointing bugs and glitches.

Assassin's Creed III is an incredible game that attempts to push the boundaries of previous titles in the series. It achieves so much but unfortunately this leads a moderate degree of inconsistently due to lackluster missions, training assassins, and graphical hiccups. The voice-acting and soundtrack maintain the same high quality as other Assassin's Creed games, so whether you tracking a target o...

The Assassin's Creed franchise has taken us to a lot of places – Jerusalem, Istanbul and much of Italy for some — but it's only in the fifth mainline entry and PS Vita spin-off Assassin's Creed III: Liberation that Ubisoft has ventured to the other side of the Atlantic Ocean and breached North American shores. Neatly timed to tie in with the US presidential elections, Assassin's Creed III continue...

Assassin's Creed III feels more like a generational leap, than it does just another chapter in this long story. It's the best looking, best playing, and most complete game in the franchise.

As extraordinary as the scale and scope of this huge production can be at times, you're left with a bloated reminder that bigger isn't always better.

Overall Assassin’s Creed III didn’t flunk out the stealth-action game with its lack of optimization. The game is a decent open-world stealth action adventure that makes you relive the moments of the American Revolution. The replay value of the game is so solid that it can make you play the game again to get 100% completion rate. It’s definitely worth the money and time if you want to learn more ab...

“History is our playground”, Ubisoft has repeatedly claimed in the run up to Assassin's Creed III's launch, and if that is indeed the case then boy, is it one bloody big playground. Not only is there a lot of history to take in on this particular playground, but the game world is utterly vast, encompassing a substantial chunk of 18th century America with an astonishing amount of depth. It's almost...
