Assassin's Creed: The Ezio Collection Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
Ubisoft, what took you so long? We’ve had Assassin’s Creed III, the Rebel Collection, and a bunch of other Ubisoft games all released for Switch. Yet some of their most famous games, already released in a convenient package for other consoles, have remained absent. Thankfully, no longer, as Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection has finally released for Switch. Combining the so called Ezio Trilogy with the short films Lineage and Embers, it’s the definitive collection for everyone’s ...
While there is definitely nothing groundbreaking about these remasters, Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection is the perfect excuse to play through these fantastic gems of the last generation all over again.
A great reintroduction to what are arguably the most iconic games in the Assassin’s Creed franchise. The Switch Edition allows for anyone to play the game the way they want; TV, handheld, or with the kickstand. Each game looks great however you want to play.
I'm glad I was able to mark these off my bucket list of games I wanted to play but never got around to. Whatever I had to sacrifice to be able to play these games on my Switch was worth it. The story of Ezio Auditore starts a little slow, but by the end of his third game I was ready to seek out the next game. Everything can feel a little outdated compared to newer entries, but as someone who has never played these games this was a great way to experience them.
Assassin’s Creed II was my first foray into this franchise, and I’ve been hooked ever since my first rooftop running spree across Florence. Brotherhood was an incredible improvement, and then Revelations was an unfortunate step backward. I hadn’t touched these games since completing them, and I was a little nervous about stepping back into them once more. Both Unity and Syndicate greatly improved the gameplay mechanics, and I was uncertain about stepping backward into a time when parkouring down a building was never graceful. The camera was wonky at the worst times imaginable. The combat was h...
Ezio’s trilogy helped build Assassin’s Creed into the giant franchise it is today thanks to its fantastic storytelling, amazing characters, and gorgeous world building. And while all of that is still here in The Ezio Collection, the lack of meaningful improvements and any sort of substantial bonus content make it a tough compilation to recommend.
Its been almost 10 years since a seemingly innocent little game known as Assassin’s Creed made its debut on the scene before taking the world by storm. Since then there has been a steady flow of games in the Assassin’s franchise, but all of them feature the same base principal; games are set in a fictional history based off of real world events while the story itself follows the centuries-old struggle between the Assassins and the Templars. You yourself the player are in fact playing as...
Assassin’s Creed: The Ezio Collection is best suited for the newcomers who are just dipping their toes into the vast waters of the Assassin’s Creed franchise. You will appreciate how the game has evolved once you’ve gone through all three games and what it has to offer. Plus you will definitely get lost in the intertwined stories of Desmond and his ancestor Ezio. This is also recommended for those who just wants to dive back into Animus 2.0 tagging along with Rebecca, Shaun, and Lucy. I definitely still had a blast playing it even thought I have already played this game back then.
