Bioshock Infinite, a game where stealth is gone, and the sky... is the limit.

Irrational Games have successfully taken the original Bioshock formula and polished it to a mirror shine. While there are still some issues with the game, it does not detract nearly enough from the amazing experience that you will find very hard to put down. This game is worth your attention and is definitely an early nominee for game of the year.

It’s impossible to talk about Bioshock Infinite without mentioning its stunning art design. Every corner of the game houses something that breathes new life into the world you’re exploring and you can really tell the artists worked their asses off to get the look right. Unfortunately the graphics themselves are pretty hit or miss with some screen tearing issues plaguing the game and textures that get really muddy when you view them up close; all the details in the world also disappoint when you go for a closer look with fruit markets filled with boxes of images of apples and...

Ultimately, BioShock Infinite feels like a shotgun blast to the face of ideas. So much is thrown at you that some things just fly by your peripheral vision, with very few of the themes ideas explored to their ultimate conclusion. The religious themes and issues of racism that are introduced early in the game are quickly neglected in favour of a science-fiction tale, which still provides one of the most incredible narratives in recent memory, but leaves you thinking that some of the most compelling parts of Columbia might have been left on the cutting room floor.

BioShock: Infinite is built from story and atmosphere first, which alone makes it a must-play experience for any self-respecting shooter fan. Providing an adventure that is as memorable as it is inspired, we're willing to accept combat that tries to offer an endlessly entertaining and visually stunning experience instead of reinventing the wheel.

There is no question the original BioShock game was a spectacular achievement in visual design, story-telling and gameplay. In many ways it was unlike anything I had played before and when I reflect on the game it is clear it has inspired many other games over the years including Bethesda’s recent smash hit Dishonored. While BioShock 2 didn’t quite leave the same lasting impression for me as the first one did, it was nevertheless a solid sequel and sent us to even greater depths in the underwater city of Rapture. This time, Ken Levine and company take us high into...

When a game inspires debate, conjecture, sleepless nights, floods of emotion, and the desperate desire to play it all the way through again immediately after watching all of the sizeable end credits you know you’ve got something special. Bioshock Infinite is a game that deserves to be played, and then played again straight afterwards. It’s one of those games that you finish and just feel sad because you know you won’t be playing another game that good for a long time to come. If it’s ...

Columbia doesn’t feel all that familiar at first. Zachary Hale Comstock’s secluded slice of Americana promptly presents itself as a sunbaked tapestry of carnival attractions and hallowed gardens; a blue skied paradise basking in the ideals of a prophet bold enough to secede from the sodom of the corruption lurking below, and set up a new home in the silver lining of the clouds. You, a former Pinkerton agent by the name of Booker DeWitt, are the anarchist; a false shepherd sent by the shady suits of the underworld to lead the floating city’s flock astray. But not everything in...

BioShock Infinite is a master class in storytelling. With exceedingly fun gameplay and combat, a beautifully intriguing world to explore, and an extremely impressive cast of characters, BioShock Infinite stands as one of the best first-person shooters ever made.

As a game, BioShock Infinite has its successes and its falterings consistent with any suitably complex piece of interactive entertainment. As a story, as an exercise in drawing the player into a believable and relevant world, as proof of exactly what a videogame can mean to a person …

When I was a wee lad growing up amidst the picturesque dales of Yorkshire, and by that I mean the inner-city slums of Birmingham, candy cigarettes were a real thing. The coolest kid on the playground would always be the one who could pretend to take the biggest toke on this sugary stick of goodness. I mean, who didn’t want to be Marlon Brando (the slim version) growing up? Granted, it’s hardly a good example to be setting for the next-generation of the country’s lawyers, doctors and pol...
