The game is rather complex, with plenty of ins and outs to uncover and learn. It is undoubtedly challenging for newbies and can be overwhelming at first. However, you will eventually figure it out if you give the game a chance and don't get discouraged immediately. Once you get the gist of it, matches are engaging and gratifying, and you will be compelled to play over and over again.Blood Bowl 3 is not yet another turn-based RPG or rogue-like deck-building game. It is a rare mix of turn-based fantasy strategy and sports that requires relentless dedication. However, its significant emphasis on turn-based strategy, its fantasy theme, its Warhammer setting, and its extensive use of gore and violence may intrigue gamers who may not enjoy sports games at first but love tabletop-inspired games. Whatever the case, Blood Bowl 3 is worth trying; you may discover a rich, thrilling game that stands out with its bloodlust.

In the time between the release of Blood Bowl 2 and 3, I have actually played the real tabletop game. I’ve actually got really invested into the extremely expensive hobby of Warhammer wargaming. And while Blood Bowl wasn’t the sole reason, it being my original introduction to the IP is partly to blame. So I definitely made sure to pick up the boxed set and see how it played in real life. My findings were that it plays almost exactly the same, and is still a blast to play. Likewise, Blood ...

It frustrates me that I have to leave Blood Bowl 3 with a middling review, but despite the solid core gameplay, everything around it frustrates me too much for me to continue playing. These issues may be fixed in the future, but at the moment I struggle to recommend this game to fans of Warhammer, strategy, or possibly even the more hardcore Blood Bowl fan.

Blood Bowl 3 is a unique and incredibly fun game. Although there are a few surprising missing features, Blood Bowl 3 still manages to capture you with its solid gameplay. Just watch out for those microtransaction and you might just have a great time. Now if only they could squash some of those bugs.

Fans of turn-based strategy and tabletop games will want to give Blood Bowl 2 a shot, but a muddled presentation limits the broader appeal among gamers and holds this game back from becoming a standout title.

With turn-based strategy games usually taking place in some sort of military or empire building setting, it's always nice to see a title bring something a little different to the table. In Blood Bowl 2, American football's been forced through a Warhammer fantasy filter to create a violent sport where Humans, Orcs, Elves, and Dwarves face-off against each other on the sports field rather than the battlefield.

Whilst Blood Bowl 2's strict adherence to the franchise's rules may dissuade some from even trying this out, those that do take the plunge and stick with it will find that despite its faults, it can be a deeply rewarding and enriching experience. The AI isn't really up to snuff though, so expect to ride a long learning curve to be able to become competitive online - if you can find a game.

A surprisingly challenging sports-simulation-strategy hybrid that packs a bone-crunching punch.

While Blood Bowl 2 is a solid game on its own, it suffers from the lack of variety compared to the previous game.

Blood Bowl 2 is a smashy, satisfying, irreverent combat-sports melee that leaves just a bit too much of the outcome up to the six-sided dice. The inclusion of some seemingly unfinished playable races is a definite stumble, but a campaign with spectacular presentation and deep, crunchy multiplayer league options blitz this game into the endzone.

I wish there were more, particularly relating to team management and the persistency of the world, but this will do. It's not as clean and clever as fellow fictional ball-handler Frozen Cortex, but the messiness and violence really do add something. There's nothing quite like recognising that you're not going to score in the last turn of a half and concentrating all of your efforts toward obliterating the opponent team instead. Especially when they're High Elves.

Blood Bowl 2 is a faithful recreation of the board game with improved visuals and a cleaner UI than previous installments. The AI is as poor as ever but multiplayer is really where Blood Bowl 2 shines. The inclusion of only 8 races is extremely disappointing though as is the lack of overall polish the game has. If you already own Blood Bowl Chaos Edition, sadly Blood Bowl 2 doesn’t really do enough to justify owning both unless the multiplayer community decides to migrate. It’s still a lo...
