Dead Space 2 is more than just an action game and it's more than a survival horror game -- it's a game that tells a really personal story about a guy who has been seriously scarred by the events around him. That premise alone makes it interesting, but Visceral Games melds it with rewarding combat, shocking enemies, and huge set pieces before tossing it into a world that's truly creepy and scary. I didn't find multiplayer that interesting and would've liked to have seen Isaac stop being an errand boy, but none of that spoils what you're getting here. The shocking moments, the gruesome deaths, a...

Unable to recall the past three years of his life, Clarke finds himself suffering from distorted visions of his deceased girlfriend, Nicole. As the Sprawl finds itself subject to a second necromorph infestation, Clarke finds himself wrapped up in a mission in which he must destroy the Marker — the iconic religious symbol that is worshipped by the franchise's Unitology cult — and battle his own dementia.

Fear is something that's hard-wired into us from an evolutionary standpoint. It heightens the senses, gives us a burst of adrenaline and helps us react to fight or flight situations. So why then, does all of this kick in when we're playing a video game? We're not actually being attacked by monsters for real. We're not in any genuine imminent danger. In fact, the truth is, it’s all about immersion, and making you feel like you are there. In Dead Space 2, there's always this all-pervading sen...

This is what a sequel should be. Visceral Games improved on what made the first game great, but still kept to the game’s survivor horror theme. There is a lot of replay value offered here; from different suits to collect that each carries their own specific traits, to five difficulty settings, one of which is Hardcore mode, that will take true skill in order to complete, to a multiplayer experience that is heavily dependent on team work, all the while still ushering fast paced game play that keeps the atmosphere that Dead Space 2 sets out to create. 2011 has just begun, but Dead Space 2 is alr...
