At full price I would say make sure you know exactly what this game is before buying it. It’s excellent, but this genre isn’t going to be for everyone. On Game Pass though this one is a no-brainer to give a try. The install size isn’t huge, but the amount of high-quality content contained within is. Desperados III is out for Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4/5 and PC. It is on Game Pass for Console, PC, and Android through xCloud.

Dust off them saddles and check out this review for Desperados III on PC! A real-time tactics experience set in the Old West; the challenging gameplay will test even the fastest gunslingers. Despite its reliance on standard tropes, this game is dynamite.

Desperados III is a great stealth tactic game with great graphics, music, voice acting, characters and story but can feel like a rehash of previous games made by the same developers.

While it may not be for everyone, I encourage those who are frustrated to mess with things first before giving up on Desperados III entirely, as it's an excellent example of a game you should give time to gestate.

A fantastic ode to cowboy films combined with challenging and satisfying gameplay.

The lawless Wild West is a gold mine for entertaining experiences yet very few games are set there so let's check out Desperados III.

Thanks to the Mimimi Games, the genre established by the unforgettable Commandos makes a big return. With their second stealth-RTS, the German studio not only solidified it's reputation as masters of the genre, but also brought Desperados back to life!

Desperados III is a prime example of an excellent real-time tactics game that emphasizes observation, planning and knowledge of its five characters’ different kits and how they interact while also testing your reactiveness. It can be brutal at times and it relies a bit too much on outnumbering you but also lets you pick your difficulty and quicksave as often as you like. Its tactical core is strong enough to carry you over its campaign’s 25+ hours but developer Mimimi Games didn’t stop there, also offering a rich color palette across the game’s levels and excellent voice acting and sound design. Add difficulty customization and characters who feel like actual individuals with their own personalities to the mix, and you’ve a game that, in spite of its niche appeal, easily deserves the status of must-play.

Coming from Mimimi Games, the developer of Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, Desperados III is an accomplished real-time tactical stealth game that is practically flawless outside of some minor technical issues. Those seeking a title that they can really sink their teeth into, learning the ins and outs of its world so that they can master it will find a hell of a lot to enjoy here, especially if they resonate with the Wild West theme. Players will need to accept that failure is a part of the process, however, as is dealing with occasionally fiddly controls.

I was lucky enough to be invited to E3 last year, and the very first game I got to test behind the scenes with was Desperados III. In my preview article I was extremely impressed with it, so when the chance come along to play the final build, I most certainly jumped on the chance. The “tactics” genre has seen some pretty good support lately with games like Gears Tactics, XCOM 2 Collection for Switch, XCOM: Chimera Squad, and Space Hulk: Tactics. So where does Desperados III fit within the...

Its been roughly fourteen years since we last saw a game from the Desperados series. During that time the game has not only changed publisher but developer as well. Spellbound Entertainment is sadly no longer leading the charge, instead passing the buck over to Mimimi Games. Known mostly for their previous game, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun, their expertise with real-time tactical stealth games becomes astonishingly clear in Desperados III as soon as you start playing.

I'm going to spoil my review of Desperados III right from the beginning: This is a bloody good game. No, that's a lie, it's a great game. I had a lot of confidence in Mimimi Productions, the developers, after their previous outing with Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun. A confidence that was solidified when I had two previews of Desperados III at Gamescom in 2018 and then 2019. The final result is here and, as I've already said, it's a great game.

Desperados III is definitely worth seeing through to the end, whether it be for the fun western tale it tells or the deep tactical stealth gameplay it offers.

A bag sits in the middle of the grass. Noticing something suspicious, the guard wanders over to check it out. In this modern age, the next step would likely be to call the bomb squad, but this isn’t the 21st century. This is the Wild West. The guard looks around but there’s no-one there. Now out of sight of his companion, there’s no-one to witness his next move and his first thought is what he can steal. As he opens the bag, a blinding cloud of gas disorientates him for a vital few seconds. It’s the last thing he remembers.

Desperados III doesn't have much competition for the title of best cowboy-themed real-time tactical stealth game on the PlayStation 4, but that doesn't mean developer Mimimi Games is happy to take the accolade by default. This is a well crafted strategy game and one that is easy to recommend to fans of the genre, but thanks to both challenging gameplay and occasionally finicky rules, one that's unlikely to win over newcomers.

Desperados 3 is a fun jaunt through the Wild West on a classic tale of revenge. Mixed with stealth strategy with a diverse roster of badasses this real-time tactics game gives rise to a lot of cool gameplay moments. Yeehaw!

Desperados III is like a decadent cake. It’s very rich in detail and design, and highly recommended, but that richness is for a certain palette that won’t appeal to everyone. Yes, it can depend on trial-and-error and the loading times can be unsavory, but it’s been awhile since a game plagued my thoughts like Desperados III. Getting a plan to work is a blast, and some excellent characterization prop up the mechanics nicely. Mimimi Games is a worthy successor to the Desperado franchise, ...

Desperados III feels both familiar and fresh at the same time. A great deal of the muscle memory and character interactions we learned in Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun are at play here, but a whole host of improvements, and a brand new character in Isabelle, make it all feel brand new. A true refinement of an already excellent formula, Desperados III is a masterclass in real-time tactical stealth, and I simply cannot recommend it highly enough.
