Guardians of Middle-earth Reviews
Professional reviews from gaming critics
That said this game deserves props for doing such a great job in taking the League of Legends formula and adapting it for the console audience. This is a greatly enjoyable game, and a very easy recommend for people who like the Lord of the Rings license, or multiplayer competitive games.
It's too bad, because when you manage to get (and stay) in a game, it really is a shining example of a pure MOBA being brought over to the console space. And between the simplified controls, easy to understand Guardian Belt system, and the optional timer for matches, it's also one of the best ways to get into the genre. All while not losing a single bit of the intensity that MOBA players have come to expect. It's just too bad such a solid game can be made occasionally unplayable by technical issues.
In Guardians of Middle-earth, gamers team up as the most powerful heroes from the greatest fantasy epic of all time, bringing up to 10 players together in a competitive multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game.
My time with Guardians of Middle Earth was a memorable one, but not for the right reasons. Without the Lord of the Rings cover this game would have disappeared into the depths of the bargain bin within weeks. Couple that with a ridiculously over priced DLC option to purchase additional characters and you've got a game that struggles to match its competition with a bigger price tag.
