I'm writing this mere moments after coming to the conclusion of Act V of Kentucky Route Zero, a game that has been in the making since the debut of its Kickstarter campaign in February 2011, almost nine years ago. I had honestly not heard of Kentucky Route Zero before the announcement of its final act, and the TV Edition release for consoles - or perhaps I had just ignored it. What a mistake that ...

Once in a while, you stumble upon a game that absolutely blows you away. Maybe the graphics set a new industry standard, maybe it’s really funny, or maybe it’s evocative of a mood you didn’t know you wanted in a game until it hit you. This is where dev Cardboard Computer comes in, with its fascinating journey more than seven years in the making. For those unaware, Kentucky Route Zero began as a Ki...

Kentucky Route Zero is a game that I’m still thinking about days after reaching its conclusion. Though it’s slow (maybe too slow for some) and introspective, it’s also an exceptionally engaging interactive experience. If you are into the slow burn kind of story then this is definitely for you, but if you’re not then you may bounce off of the Zero.

An arrestingly surreal triumph that blends point ‘n’ click and text adventures with a unique style of storytelling and gameplay that was well worth the extremely long wait.

Even with its faults, Kentucky Route Zero is well-written and contains wonderful art and sound design. I heard great things about Kentucky Route Zero before the release of its final act and I do see a special game inside, but there are too many noticeable issues for me to praise it on the same epitaph that others do. I hope that someday I might give it another shot and it will finally click.

More than being a video game, Kentucky Route Zero is a work of art – in fact it probably belongs in a museum rather than on our PCs or consoles. And just like any piece of art, it’s unlikely to resonate with everyone who experiences it. But if you’ve been waiting for the conclusion of this drawn-out adventure, you’ll be glad to finally have it.

Kentucky Route Zero’s development has finally drawn to a close, almost eight years after its first act was released. The complete collection, Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition, closes the curtain on its story of small town surrealism. As a Kentuckian I can agree that its rural setting has that sort of timeless quality about it. However, despite the ample praise heaped upon its first four acts over t...

Summing things up, If going on a surreal ‘road to nowhere’ journey is your thing, Kentucky Route Zero: TV Edition may well be right up your street.  If you want to play games that respect your gaming time this is probably not for you.  This game has a lot going for it but at the same time contains many things that diminish its playability.  Being available on Game Pass does, however, make playing ...
