The strongest Lego title yet, and the best Marvel game ever made.
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is the best thing to happen to Marvel games since 2006's Marvel Ultimate Alliance. It's a warm and witty, multi-layered approach to the brand that ties in hundreds of Marvel's most iconic characters, settings, and stories. While you can knock out the campaign story in around eight hours, the world is rich with content, and I've found myself up late every night for the past week playing for "just one more hour." It may not offer the challenge or player-driven context of this year's other open-world games, but those games would be hard-pressed to deliver as much fun and ...
An open world sandbox game that the whole family can enjoy.
With past LEGO crossover games such as Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and Batman, not only have I been patiently waiting, but almost at the edge of my seat for a Marvel Universe crossover. Alas, my waiting has come to an end. Having grown up with LEGO and being a Marvel Comics fan, seeing this crossover happen is like a dream come true. The mere thought of Marvel characters having the famous LEGO humour consisting of cheesy jokes and puns was enough to make me giddy excitement. While being offered to review LEGO Marvel as my first ever review, not only was I more than ecstatic, but ready to rel...
LEGO Marvel Super Heroes is the Avengers game we’ve always wanted, and maybe even more than that — the Marvel game we’ve always wanted, and I say that well-aware of the fact that Marvel: Ultimate Alliance and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 are out there. Sure, it’s in LEGO form, but whether you’re a casual super hero fan or take a trip to the local comic book store every Wednesday, there’s no question there’s something for everyone here.
Lego Marvel Superheroes isn't a system seller on PS4, but it's still worth your time.
And by partnering that solid LEGO brand with Marvel, TT Games has found what is likely their most successful formula: combining a diverse cast of characters with their tried and true gameplay tropes. Fans of anything Marvel has created in the last 75+ years will come away from LEGO Marvel Super Heroes satisfied, as will those who regularly turn up for and enjoy TT Games' LEGO releases. The game by no means introduces any fundamental changes, but it's charming, well designed, and endless engaging all the same.
Lego games are a lot of fun so now that Marvel Super Heroes is available for Switch, put on your favourite cape and let's give it a go.
Nobody understands licenses like TT Games. Over the course of eight years and a dozen or so LEGO games, the British studio has taken on numerous cherished properties and nailed every single one of them. Star Wars, Batman, Indiana Jones - whatever the source material, the LEGO games always display just the right combination of reverence and tongue-in-cheek humour. They’re a joy.
The real highlights of the game are in the boss battles. Whilst these are all similar in nature, it’s really awesome to see you going against teams of popular bad guys in order to overcome evil. They all have amazing visual set pieces that really make these memorable and an absolute joy to play through. Exploring a LEGO version of New York City is another special moment that will be enjoyed by anyone.
