While it makes for a fun, relatively short co-op jaunt, Little Nightmares 3 doesn’t live up to its predecessors. Puzzles lack complexity, the story lacks heart and, though it’s still a grim world for our protagonists, the fear factor just doesn’t pack enough punch.

Little Nightmares 3 is a solid addition to the beloved franchise, and Supermassive did a fine job with the project. The atmosphere is on point as it does a great job at telling a story, creating a sense of dread, and is genuinely exciting to venture through. Unfortunately, the game has minimal horror, and I wouldn’t go into it expecting to be scared. As for the gameplay itself, it’s really basic to its benefit and detriment. It’s a great game to pick up and play in a weekend, especially due to its short runtime, but it won’t offer any challenge or thought-provoking puzzles. Still, Little Nightmares 3 feels right at home in the franchise and I wouldn't mind seeing Supermassive Games take another crack at a sequel, especially if they learn from their mistakes on this one.

The Little Nightmares franchise has been a bit of a surprise hit, moving over 20 million units to date, so it’s not surprising that publisher Bandai Namco has opted to continue on with a third entry even though series creators Tarsier Studios has decided to move on. Little Nightmares III instead comes to us from the horror specialists at Supermassive Games, who have made a clear effort to recreate the look and feel of previous entries in the series.

October 10, 2025 Read Review

Little Nightmares III is a solid yet unspectacular entry that translates the series' core appeal into a cooperative format but fails to fully justify the developer change or the price tag. It’s good, but not great, making it more of a recommendation for spooky season rather than a must-play horror title.

Spooky season approaches, so why not jump head first into some unsettling, atmospheric horror in an all new outing in the Little Nightmares franchise. New characters, locations and an entirely new development team bring the nauseating world of Nowhere back to life. We’re here to tell you all about it in our Little Nightmares 3 Review.

A haunting return that mixes cooperative fear with beautiful art and some familiar annoyances.

October 10, 2025 Read Review

Little Nightmares III is a solid addition to the series, as it offers more scares and thrilling chase sequences. It could use some refinement to its systems, but Supermassive Games made for a smooth transition for the 3D puzzle platformer.

October 9, 2025 Read Review

Little Nightmares III is a darkly beautiful follow-up that captures the series’ eerie charm but plays it too safe, offering an experience that feels more familiar than frightening.

October 9, 2025 Read Review

Little Nightmares III is generally a successful sequel thanks to its refined mechanics and the integration of co-op to its particular brand of horror experience. If you've played previous Little Nightmares games, you can rest assured that Little Nightmares III will bring you another deformed slice of horror you'll be eager to lap up. However, the formula of Little Nightmares hasn't changed and although it all works wonderfully well and you shouldn't try to fix what the wrench cannot, Little Nightmares deserves something more ambitious in the future. For right now though, fill those baleful boots and enjoy this unhinged third course.

New developer Supermassive Games takes Little Nightmares in a familiar direction, though co-op does mix things up in a welcome way for the series.

October 8, 2025 Read Review

Little Nightmares III faithfully preserves the oppressive mood, clever environmental puzzles, and visceral unease associated with the series, but feels like an echo of what came before. While its dark allure remains potent, the baffling absence of local co-op undercuts the game’s most ambitious feature. Though its multiplayer concept shines in theory, the absence of a character-swap feature to enrich single-player mode feels like another missed opportunity.

Little Nightmares 3 adds a welcome online cooperative mode and some freshly bizarre environments, but the series' formula is becoming a little staid.

Little Nightmares III is definitely worth a try, bringing a unique brand of horror and platforming puzzle action to the table in an instalment that builds on the franchise's best features.

October 8, 2025 Read Review

The Little Nightmares series has carved out its own corner in the horror-puzzle genre, delivering unsettling atmospheres and clever gameplay without relying on jump scares. With the third entry, developer Supermassive Games takes the franchise in a new direction by introducing two brand-new protagonists and finally adding the co-op mode that fans have been requesting. But does this shift away from familiar faces like Six pay off? This review of Little Nightmares III explores how the game bala...

October 8, 2025 Read Review

Little Nightmares III is a safe entry into the series that runs into repetition issues, alongside bugs that really hold the game back. The checkpointing system is the biggest offender here, sometimes making me lose 4 or 5 minutes.

October 8, 2025 Read Review

Little Nightmares 3 stands out thanks to its memorable plot and terrifying levels, but some A.I. bugs and a slow pacing during the final act stain what could have been an excellent horror experience.

It’s been four years since Little Nightmares II, and in that time, original developer Tarsier Studios has left, with Supermassive Games of Until Dawn fame stepping in to continue the series. Despite the change-up, Little Nightmares III feels right at home in this strange universe, mainly because Supermassive does little to rock the boat, instead using the series’ greatest hits and a couple of underutilized additions to create another spooky adventure.

October 8, 2025 Read Review

Little Nightmares III is faithful to its predecessors while also adding interesting Co-op gameplay. The story is fun and doesn't overstay its welcome, and the co-op mechanics enhance in some areas, while detracting in others.

October 8, 2025 Read Review

Little Nightmares III marks a bold shift for the series, with Supermassive Games taking over from Tarsier Studios and introducing co-op. While the game’s atmosphere, art direction, and world-building are hauntingly beautiful, its lack of true scares and overly simple puzzles hold it back. The co-op mechanics feel underutilized, and solo play suffers due to overly helpful AI. Despite its flaws, the game’s strong visuals and collectibles make it a worthwhile yet uneven experience for fans o...

Little Nightmares 3 is, for better or worse, more of the same.  Supermassive Games understands what makes the series work, and it effectively translates to the third entry. The formula works after three games. However, the combat is such a distraction from what makes these games work: the tense exploration of a world filled with dread and horror, as well as the environmental puzzles.

October 8, 2025 Read Review

Little Nightmares 3 improves, in many ways, what makes Little Nightmares so beloved. But the game quickly feels formulaic.
