Park Beyond is a theme park simulator game released on June 15, 2023, published by Bandai Namco Europe S.A.S. and developed by Limbic Entertainment. I say they did a bang-up job with what appears to be their first theme park simulator. For fans of games like Thrillville and Jurassic World Evolution, you may want to check this game out.

Despite its veneer of limitless design possibilities, players are ultimately constrained in the types of attractions they can create and pursue during the campaign. While Sandbox mode is your best bet for getting creative with all the bells and whistles Park Beyond has to offer, it too is not immune to the myriad of glitches and technical issues present throughout the game. Although you can spend hours designing and constructing your ideal park, the looming threat of crashes diminishes the incentive to do so, even in Sandbox mode. While there is an innovative theme park sim beneath all the glitches...

Park Beyond takes the theme park genre to new heights with its captivating gameplay and innovative concepts. From the moment you enter the game, it introduces fresh ideas like “Impossification,” a mechanic that allows players to bend the laws of physics and create insane and impossible roller coasters. This feature sets Park Beyond apart from other theme park games and adds a new level of excitement and creativity to the experience, even though the title is not without its shortcomings.

Promising an unconventional approach to rollercoaster construction as players design the theme park of their dreams, Limbic Entertainment’s Park Beyond is yet another business-building simulator that attempts to blend "unlimited" creativity with fiscal responsibility. A familiar pitch with some quirky set dressing, you’ll create your own custom coasters, plop down drag-and-drop shops, and hire staff to create a successful venture that’s profitable and exciting – but most importantly, profitable.

I was very interested in playing Park Beyond for a series of reasons. The first one is simple: I love theme park simulators, even though it seems like no one has been able to come up with something as good as Theme Park World or the first few RollerCoaster Tycoon games, even though Planet Coaster came really close. Maybe this would have been the answer to my pleas. The second reason was the fact it was being developed by Limbic, the same people behind Tropico 6. Let me clear about one thing: ...

Despite making an excellent first impression, Park Beyond ends in a downward spiral that's exciting in a coaster, but lethal in an economy.

Park Beyond delivers a fun and addictive theme park builder and management sim experience, and elevates it with its delightful impossification mechanics. Some technical issues and console-specific problems do hold the experience back somewhat, but this is still an easy game to recommend for fans of the genre.

Park Beyond is a hugely enjoyable park builder that thrives on accessibility, personality and creativity.

At its heart, Park Beyond evokes memories of the Theme Park games from a couple of decades ago, and it's perhaps due to our nostalgia for those titles that we enjoyed our time with this as much as we did. There's something to be said for the simplified theme park builder, in which you don't need to worry about navigating a dozen overwhelming menus or whether your rollercoasters adhere to the laws of conventional physics.

Many elements of Park Beyond's gameplay might feel familiar to Planet Coaster players, with the game taking a similar approach to modernizing the experience found in classics like the RollerCoaster Tycoon series. Mapping out and building up a park is typically intuitive in a similar way, and the cartoony 3D graphics achieve comparable effects. The principal difference lies in what each game expects the player to enjoy. Planet Coaster puts effort into a healthy dose of realism, while Park Beyond broadly rejects such notions in favor of the fantastical. Guests won't turn back from a ride with excessive g-forces, eagerly...

More creative and cartoony than managerial, thus a bit of a treat for people less boring than me.

Does Park Beyond capture the magic of Theme Park World from the early 2000s? Not quite, but damn, it tries. It feels like a nice, happy medium between the complexity of Planet Coaster and the simplicity of Theme Park: stick to flat rides and prefab coasters if you want, but if you’re the more creative type, you’ll get a huge kick out of the freedom Park Beyond’s coaster building and design tools give you. Packed with personality, plenty of gameplay and some truly wonderful ride designs, Park Beyond is a must for theme park sim fans.
