Many of us could probably imagine — and perhaps have actually experienced (legally or not) — the thrill of high speed auto racing. We’ve all been there, on an empty stretch of highway, giving it a little more gas than the situation strictly requires. While high-end Formula 1 cars are their own beast, we sort of get how they work. Four wheels, steering, braking. Got it. When it comes to motorcycle racing, Ride 5 reminds me that I’d have zero business being anywhere near a bike. I wouldn’t last a lap.

If you’re committed, RIDE 5 can be a helluva lot of fun. Its challenging yet rewarding racing mechanics are best in class for this genre of game, and the selection of tracks and bikes on offer are second to none.

Its latest offering is Ride 5, which serves as a sizable, current-gen revamp and overall upgrade for the series. No longer held back by a foundation that was created in 2015, Ride 5 delivers one of the best motorcycle racing games yet.

RIDE 5 is the latest offering from Milestone S.R.L, one of the leading and longest-established racing game developers in the world. Founded in Milan all the way back in 1996 their franchise stable also includes the MotoGP series, MXGP, and Monster Energy Super Cross – The Official Video game. So, when it comes to bikes, I guess they know what they are doing, then?

RIDE 5 is a thrilling experience, with plenty of content. But with a high learning curve, you'll need to spend quite some time finessing your racing experience before it gets really good.

Ride 5 is the biggest and most feature-rich Ride game to date, but it’s a shame that many rough edges and issues hold it back from greatness, especially for newcomers. Perhaps with a patch or two, Ride 5 will turn into something really special, but until then, it’s hard to recommend it over Ride 4.
