A good remaster of a decent game, worth a look even if you’re not super interested in the Akiba franchise.

You better have to choose if it’s worth spending your spare cash, because it might not be the game for you and it might be for others.

Akiba’s Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed isn’t the best brawler around and has limited fan service but a solid storyline and witty dialogue make it an addicting one nonetheless.

Ultimately, it’s hard to recommend Akiba’s Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed to anyone but the most ardent of action RPG fans with a taste for Otaku culture. While its premise is genuinely interesting, as are the storylines that stem from it, the dated visuals and archaic combat will be big hurdles to overcome for most. For those who can see and work past them, however, there’s some fun to be had, albei...

Akiba’s Trip doesn’t look good. It originally came out on the PSP, and you can definitely tell right away. The models are pretty simple with janky movement and a lack of detail, with many of the same models being around each area at once. The 2D art seen in cutscenes is quite nice though, as the illustrations give each character much more personality. There are some fun songs on the soundtrack, an...

Akiba’s Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed might possibly be one of the most bewildering games I have ever reviewed in this website. I kinda knew what to expect from it, and by that I mean to expect something that would make me question the sanity of those who developed this game (fun fact: the same people behind Octopath Traveler). But man, I just wasn’t ready for the sheer weirdness that oozes from all...

Akiba's Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed is a remaster of the original Akiba's Trip. However, its Western debut leaves a lot to be desired.

Long, long ago, on the beloved PlayStation Vita, XSEED made the confusing decision to bring the second game in the Akiba’s Trip series to North America when we hadn’t even seen the first. It’s been nearly seven years since but fans will finally be able to play the game that started it all. Akiba’s Trip: Hellbound & Debriefed laid the groundwork for Undead & Undressed, a game I thoroughly enjoyed, ...

Akiba's Trip is set in Akihabara, which is a hub for otaku culture in Tokyo. The area is home to vampiric creatures called Shadow Souls, which drain blood from people, as well as their will to live. Unlike regular vampires, Shadow Souls can survive in the sunlight, so long as only their hands and head are exposed. If their clothes are torn off and they're exposed to the sun, then they disintegrate...
