Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy is a fantastic JRPG that improves on the prequel's mechanics and adds in some new ones to spice things up. And, with some tweaks and a GPU fix, it performs very well on the Steam Deck!

Although I’ve picked apart several problems with Atelier Ryza 2, the bottom line is that they’re all minor issues. Rarely does anything detract from the joy of stepping into Ryza’s shoes and simply existing in this gorgeous world. There’s so much to do, and every element of the game – from exploring, to crafting, to combat – is immersive and rewarding. It’s a shame there’s no English voice acting, and a bit more direction would be helpful at times, but even with those faults, Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy remains a delightful way to spend 40+...

I’m sort of in the same position as I was last time around: I enjoyed the experience, but I’m not exactly in a hurry to go out and pick up the rest of the series. If anything, I’ll wait until the next opportunity I get to slip into Ryza’s incredibly tight shorts. Given the series’ typical pace, that will probably be in another year or so.

The Atelier series is an RPG series that is now 22 games deep with Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends and The Secret Fairy. Despite being nearly two-dozen games in, this is only the second direct sequel in the entire franchise. The developers at Gust don’t need to establish new characters or a world to explore. Instead, Atelier Ryza 2 extends the titular protagonist’s adventure and introduces improvements to abilities, exploration, monsters, and dungeons. While the gathering and synthesis gamep...

Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy is a strong entry in the series and is an improvement on the previous game. It introduces new mechanics that fit well within the context of the story without feeling like they were forcibly implemented just for the sake of it, while also refining existing core gameplay elements. While I’m not entirely satisfied with a change, or lack thereof, here and there, this game is certainly worth your time, especially if you enjoyed Ryza’s first adventure.

The first Atelier Ryza served as a softer introduction to the Atelier RPG series, boasting some serious eye candy in character design, accessible combat, and light story. A little over a year later, the sequel has already landed on our desks. Read our Atelier Ryza 2 PS5 review to see if this sequel is a worthy successor, or if Ryza was just a one-hit wonder.

Overall, Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy delivers an exciting adventure JRPG game full of more action and adventure than the previous game. It brings back a majority of the original gameplay, making it accessible for newcomers and longtime fans of the game. In addition to bringing back a lot of the original gameplay, Atelier Ryza 2 also introduces new features that open up more movements and actions in the game that adds to the adventure. I thoroughly enjoyed this game so much and could play it for hours on end. And for $59.99, it’s reasonably priced...

2019's Atelier Ryza is one of the greatest JRPGs that I've ever played and it now has a direct sequel which is unique for the franchise so let's see what Ryza's up to now that she moved to the big city.

Coming from the same developer-publisher tag team that brought us the impressive Fairy Tail last year, Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & the Secret Fairy has the distinction of being the first true JRPG (and turn-based RPG, for that matter) released for the Playstation 5, given the fact that, for some bizarre reason, Yakuza: Like a Dragon was initially released as an Xbox Series X exclusive when it comes to its next-gen version.

While Atelier Ryza 2 doesn't do much to stand out other than its in-depth crafting system, the core joys of the genre are here. If you like JRPGs, you could do much worse than this.

Gust have spent a little longer than they usually do with Atelier Ryza 2 and the game is much improved over the first in nearly every way.

While Atelier Ryza 2 won't set your world on fire, it does serve as comfort food for JRPG fans looking for a fix. However, those who aren't fans of the genre should stay far, far away.

The Atelier series has been a deeply loved series for fans of the alchemy JRPG genre for many years. But it wasn’t until Atelier Ryza’s release in 2019 that we saw some record-breaking sales and it’s no surprise that a year later we would see a sequel so soon. Unlike previous entries into the series, Ryza’s bright and bubbly personality returns to us once again. Instead of taking more of a support role, she returns to us as the main protagonist in this story. Atelier Ryza: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy brings us everything that we’ve loved in the...

Atelier Ryza 2 is an excellent entry in an item-crafting focused JRPG series. It improves on its predecessor via quality-of-life improvements, more in-depth character interactions and a sprawling story. Plus, it's absolutely adorable!

Atelier Ryza 2 improves on the original in almost every way and, despite a few stumbling points, proves Gust is still one of the best at making something magical out of ordinary things.
